IIM Kozhikode Admission Policy 2018-2020: PI to carry more weight than CAT 2017

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has unveiled its admission policy for PGP 2018-2020 batch. CAT 2017 percentile cut-off has been fixed at 90 with 75% weightage in the Aggregate Index Score.

Candidates, who will make it to the Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI) rounds, will have to ensure they perform better in the PI round as it will carry maximum weightage (45%) vis-à-vis final selection.

The minimum eligibility criteria for initial shortlist:

Candidates with the above mentioned cut-offs will be eligible for consideration for the subsequent stages. The candidates will be required to pass two stages to confirm a seat at IIM Kozhikode.

Stage 1: Shortlisting for Personal Interview (PI), Group Discussion (GD) and Writing Ability Test (WAT)

The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of AIS or Aggregate Index Score, computed on the basis of CAT 2017 performance, SSC and HSC scores, Graduation score, work experience and academic/gender diversity.

Key points:

  • Any candidate with a score of 60% or below in HSc/Class 12/Equivalent gets zero weightage while any candidate with a score 81% or above gets a maximum of 7.5%. For any candidate with a score in between 60% and 81%, the weightage of 7.5% will be proportionately allotted.
  • Any candidate with Graduation score of 60% or below gets zero weightage while one with a score 81% or above gets a maximum of 7.5%. For any candidate with a score in between 60% and 81%, the weightage of 7.5% will be proportionately allotted.
  • For candidates of 5 year dual degree course (BTech+MTech, BS+MS, BTech+MSc, etc.), the aggregate of marks of bachelor’s degree will be considered for bachelor’s degree percentage.
  • For those candidates having cleared CA/ICWAI/CS without having Bachelor’s degree, their average of intermediate and final level marks will be treated as Bachelor’s degree marks.
  • Only fulltime managerial work experience after Graduation of 6 months and above will be considered.
  • To ensure diversity, 5% marks will be awarded for both the gender diversity and academic diversity.

In Stage 2, the final merit list will be created on the basis of the candidates’ performance in GD/PI/WAT rounds.

The candidate merit-list for GD/PI round will be issued in the last week of January 2018. The list will be available on the IIM Kozhikode website.  

The interview call letters and other details will be made available on the website and the candidates need to download the same. Call letters will not be sent to any candidate by post. Shortlisted candidates will have to fill a personal profile form available on the website, to be able to attend PI and GD/WAT rounds.

The final merit list for admission will be issued in the last week of April/first week of May 2018. The list will be on display on the official website. Hard copies of the admission offers will be issued only to those candidates who send the completed offer acceptance form together with payment details. The acceptance fee is Rs 50,000.
