The Academics and Career Council (AnC) of IIT Kanpur's Students Gymkhana hosted the 3rd Institute Research Symposium (IRS '24), bringing together the institute's vibrant scientific community to celebrate and showcase groundbreaking research. The eagerly awaited event offered students, researchers, and faculty an extensive platform for oral presentations, poster sessions, and valuable networking.

With around 500 participants over two days, IRS 2024 highlighted the depth and diversity of IIT Kanpur's research, underscoring the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and collaborative knowledge sharing.

Highlights of the Institute Research Symposium at IIT Kanpur

IRS '24 featured captivating sessions from distinguished keynote speakers. Dr. Yogeshwar Nath Mishra, scientist at NASA-Caltech and KAUST, delivered an inspiring talk titled "Building the World’s Fastest Cameras and Avoiding Failures in Research," sharing insights on research resilience and technological innovation. Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Institute Chair Professor, former DST Secretary, and President of the Indian National Science Academy, presented "Sustainability of Knowledge: Education, Research, and Innovation in a Brave New World," highlighting the crucial role of interdisciplinary research and sustainable innovation in academia.

The valedictory ceremony was honoured by the presence of guests, including Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof. Shalabh, Dean of Academic Affairs, along with keynote speakers, organizers, and student participants. Awards for oral presentations were based on criteria including clarity and significance, content and quality, communication delivery, and Q&A handling. Poster awards highlighted excellence in layout and design, clarity, significance, content, and engagement with peers and visitors.

Yogesh RG Singh, General Secretary of the PG Academics and Career Council, delivered the vote of thanks, extending heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty, student participants, and organizing team members whose support and dedication made IRS '24 a success.
