The best four years that I will spend.

Placements: I am from Chemical Engineering, and in my branch, around 80% of students get placed. The highest package offered is 50 LPA, the median is 21 LPA, and the lowest is 8 LPA. The top recruiting company from my branch is Microsoft, offering 50 LPA. The top roles offered are SDE, consulting, and data analytics roles.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is great, and labs are a bit hectic, but the infrastructure is top-class. The library has an occupancy of around 500 students and is a three-storey building. The infrastructure of hostels is quite old, so in the beginning, it might be difficult to live as there is no AC. The food quality in the mess is better than that of any other engineering college. The health centre at IIT Kanpur provides medicine and treatment completely free of cost. The campus provides facilities for all sorts of games.

Faculty: Professors here are among the most educated in the world, having completed their Ph.D. from the best universities globally. There is no limit to the knowledge at IIT Kanpur. The semester exams are much more difficult than those of other IITs, and the grading here is also tough.

Other: I chose this branch because it is the only one I am getting according to my rank. The fest is the best thing here, as we enjoy amazing concerts by renowned artists like Sonu Nigam, Badshah, Ritviz, etc.

Very hectic academics, very bad experience with Maths courses really tough, and very hard grading.

Placements: Placements are good, obviously as it is IIT. Overall average package is between 25 LPA to 30 LPA. Branches like CS have an average package of 50 LPA. My branch of chemical engineering has an average of 20 LPA with almost 90% placement rate. Internships are also very good.

Infrastructure: Hostels are not of that good quality, Wi-Fi is good and 24X7 available. Food is not that good if anyone has high expectations from IIT and it is an old IIT. All sports facilities are available on the campus and hostel. All sports equipment and all kinds of sports are available.

Faculty: Courses are tough. There is a perception of people about IIT Kanpur that academics are quite tough and it is true to a certain extend. The first-year mathematics course fees and the grading of professors are really bad. There are also useless courses like Biology, Ethics, and English.

It has really good infrastructure and great professors. Faculty members are highly educated.

Placements: Approximately 86% of students get placed on our campus. Top recruiting companies like Dr. Reddy's laboratories, Reliance, etc., visit the college for placements. Students chose non-core as well as core fields like SDE, product manager, etc. The highest package is 80 LPA and the lowest package is 8 LPA. The average package is 20 LPA.

Infrastructure: There is 5G high-speed Wi-Fi on our campus. Classrooms are spacious and big. Mess food is just okay and it is not very tasty. The breakfast provided is good. Medical insurance is there, so we can access these medical facilities 24 hours and it is cost-free.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are really difficult and it is conducted in one week. Mid-semester exams are done and within one month from the start of college quizzes start to happen. It has a C+-centric grading.

Other: According to my JEE Advanced rank, this branch is available, so I chose this course. Some more interesting courses can be added to the chemical course. 3 types of fests happen in our college, i.e., cultural, technical and sports.

Never ending IIT journey .

Placements: Total students in my course were approximately 120, and the highest package is about 35 Lacs and the lowest is 12 Lacs, and my top recruiting company is Core in Dr. Reddy and many more, and max 90 people go for the internship, and roles are in a varied variety of data analysts, software development, and so on.

Infrastructure: IIT has every facility to live in there; they have sports facilities, Wi-Fi, a computer center, a swimming pool, badminton courts, basketball, and every hostel has it too; they also have gyms. Also, a lot of the things are more cool stuff and all are in perfect condition .

Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in college; they tried to explain each and every concept related to the subject, and they want you too get to explore deeply in the subject. IIT has a fast semester of 3 months, and papers are held that get finished in a week, so it is more relaxing.

Other: I choose chemical engineering because of the interest in chemistry, and also because placement is good, and I was very much free and can explore in every field because it was not too hectic. Course papers also come easy, and the faculty is too good, and the events held in the department and festivals happening in college are also too good.

Strict curriculum, good infrastructure, very good placement record with the highest package 4 crore.

Placements: The placement record of IIT Kanpur is great; in the recession, almost all UG students were placed. Companies like Google, Amazon and startups come for placements. In my department, students go into SDE, consultancy, and product management profiles; very few opt for the core profile. Core companies like Dr. Reddy's Lab and Vedanta also come. The average package in chemical engineering is 20 lacs per year. Placement records are very good but internship opportunities in chemical engineering are quite limited. Core companies hire interns; other companies also hire interns, but circuital branches get more preference. Almost 55% of my department students didn't get internships, but the good thing is that almost all got placed.

Infrastructure: It's a residential campus, and hostels are quite good. The food quality is also fine. Different clubs are here based on interest Students can join music club dance club, programming club robotics clubs, etc. We have grounds for different sports, such , cricket, hockey, football, etc. A swimming pool is also available. The hotel itself has playgrounds. You get medical insurance up to Rs 1 lakh per year at IIT Kanpur. The whole campus has Wi-Fi, and all academic buildings and labs have air conditioning. All classrooms have projector. All labs are good and well maintained.

Faculty: Professors are well qualified with Ph.D.s and postdocs from recognized universities. You can clear your doubts in class, or you can visit the professor's office or lab. The curriculum is updated every 10 years. Review council forms and make necessary changes to the curriculum. All labs are mandatory, so students have practical knowledge. We have 1 midterm exam and 2–8 quizzes generally taken; they may be surprise or unannounced. If you attend regular lectures, you will definitely score well. The grading system is relatively simple.

Other: 3 major festivals are conducted every year: 1. Antaragni (Media and culture fest) 2. Udghosh (Sports fest) 3. Techkriti (Technology and Entrepreneurship fest) .

Gyaan Of IIT Kanpur for Chemical Engineers.

Placements: In 2024, the placement statistics are very poor due to online studying and the skill gap it has created, exacerbated by the recession. Some companies did not participate in campus placements, and those that did made very few offers compared to usual. This year, the placement rate is around 70%. The highest package was 2.2 CPA for the quant profile, and the average package in our department is 19 LPA. Companies like Texas Instruments, Samsung, SAP Labs, Dr. Reddy, Axella, Quadye, Rubrik, Blitzz, etc. participated in the placements in 2024. Around 50% of students secured internships from our college, which is a smaller number compared to previous years.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our labs and department building is magnificent and high-tech. Wi-Fi is available everywhere, even across the entire campus. The library is old and very spacious; around 1500 students can sit comfortably in the fully air-conditioned library. The quality of my hostel is as good as it was in the first year since my hall and the first year are the same, but the quality of other halls is not up to par. They lack good infrastructure and proper painting. There is a canteen in every hall, although in some halls, the canteen is absent.

Faculty: Yes, the teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Most professors have studied abroad and then returned here to teach, so they are well-versed in their fields. However, some teachers lack effective teaching skills. I would rate the curriculum at 3 out of 5 because it does not fully prepare us for industry standards. The difficulty of exams varies greatly depending on the professors; exams are conducted weekly, with no mid-semester or end-semester exams.

Other: One notable aspect is that we do not choose our courses based on preference; rather, they are allocated based on our rank, and then we select from the available options. I chose this college because it's close to my home, and the average package for my course is 19 LPA, which influenced my decision. The course curriculum is demanding, with lab sessions three days a week, each lasting three hours, which can be quite taxing. Antaragni is a cultural festival; Techkriti is a tech festival; and Udghosh is a sports festival. These are the main festivals held annually. Scholarships available include MCM, which covers the entire tuition fee, and Reliance Scholarships, which require a payment of INR 50,000 for every semester.

The reality of IIT Kanpur.

Placements: In my department, approximately 90% of placements occur on campus. The highest package this time offered was 85 LPA, the lowest was 10 LPA, and the average was 19 LPA. Dr. Reddy and Axxella are the main recruiters during the placements in our course. The internship number is not so good but around 50% of students get the internship. I have no idea about the role but it depends on which area students want to go to.

Infrastructure: In my department, there is a separate chemical engineering building and lab, which are similar to industries but on a very small level. In the labs, you will find too many desktops, and Wi-Fi is always there and we have Asia's second-largest library in IIT Kanpur. The hostel quality is good but it remains good in the first year only and after the first year, the quality of the rooms is not so good. And in every hall, there is a canteen and a gym. In the whole of IIT Kanpur, there is only one medical center.

Faculty: The faculty and teachers are very helpful but not all of them. There is always some teacher who does not push the students. Most of the professors are well-educated and good. Teaching done on the smart board so teaching quality is very good. Yes, the courses that we have studied can make one 90% ready to join the industry. Semester exam are always very tough in IIT Kanpur and very rigorous.

Other: I chose this course on the basis of my rank and the main thing is that this college is close to my hometown so I chose this course here. The campus life is good; you will find fests, clubs and sports in which you can participate according to your hobby.

Good placements in chemical engineering.

Placements: The placement record in chemical engineering at IIT Kanpur is strong as compared to other IITs. About 90% of students got placed last year with an average package of 19 LPA and a median package of 17.6 LPA. The highest is 65 LPA and the lowest is around 10 LPA. Various renowned companies in sectors like petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, consulting, and more actively participate in the placement process. About 30% of students got internships in their third year at some big companies like Microsoft and TCS.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure in the chemical engineering department is good. It has all the well-equipped labs and machines to help with your experiments. All the labs and classrooms have 24-hour Wi-Fi and air-conditioned facilities. The library of IIT Kanpur is famous as the PK Kelkar library, which is huge in size and silent. Mess food is better than other foods. They have all the sports and games facilities, which are open all day and night.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Most of them completed their Masters and PhDs from the most reputed international universities. They teach awesomely in the class but we have to again take a look at the notes to clearly understand the topic. The grading system is here. Students have to do rigorous study a week before the exams.

Other: Scholarships are good here. There are some on the basis of your parental income and some on the basis of your academic scores. Campus is lunch green and campus life is enjoyable. Fests are awesome.
