Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore is all set to host a free prosthetic limb donation camp on February 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the IIM Bangalore campus, Bannerghatta Road. The camp is being organized by Prayaas, a student-led social responsibility initiative under the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) and Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGEPM) at IIM Bangalore.
This initiative aims to provide free prosthetic limbs to differently-abled individuals from Below Poverty Line (BPL) categories, in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot), an organization renowned for its impactful work in prosthetic support.
Mission of Prayaas: Building Socially Responsible Leaders
Prayaas is deeply rooted in IIM Bangalore’s mission to develop socially responsible leaders. By engaging students in real-world projects focused on social welfare, the initiative underscores the Institute’s commitment to supporting communities in need and promoting inclusivity. The free prosthetic limb camp serves as a vital intervention to aid the differently-abled, providing them with the tools they need to regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Prosthetic Limb Fittings for 50 Beneficiaries
The camp will offer a variety of prosthetic limb options to eligible individuals, including:
- Above-knee prosthetics
- Callipers
- Below-knee prosthetics
The camp will cater to the first 50 registered candidates who meet the eligibility criteria, ensuring a focused and efficient service for the beneficiaries.
Eligibility Criteria and Registration Details
To be eligible for the prosthetic limb donation camp, beneficiaries must meet the following criteria:
- Provide a BPL (Below Poverty Line) card and Aadhaar card for verification.
- The wounds must be at least four months old, and a photograph of the wound will be required at the time of registration.
Interested individuals must register before 9th February 2025 by calling the EPGP Programme Office at +91-9538813760 or 080-2699 3759 / 3548 to secure their spot at the camp.
Partnership with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti
Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (Jaipur Foot), a non-profit organization, has been instrumental in transforming the lives of differently-abled individuals by providing free artificial limbs, callipers, and other assistive devices. Over the years, the organization has served over two million people in India and 27 other countries, helping those with disabilities regain mobility and lead empowered lives.
Through this collaboration, IIM Bangalore and Prayaas are furthering the goal of creating a sustainable ecosystem for social welfare, where students and faculty alike contribute to the community’s well-being, making a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.
