SSC JE 2022 notification will release on November 28, 2022. The SSC Junior Engineer Exam is a national level competitive exam that requires a concentrated preparation of more than one year. The candidates are required to cover all the topics given in the syllabus in their entirety. Candidates should understand the SSC JE eligibility criteria before starting the SSC JE preparation. We are explaining the components of SSC JE eligibility conditions such as age limit, nationality, educational qualification and the like based on the previous notification. Eligibility is an important factor in the exam because the candidature of the candidate remains provisional till the final stage of document verification by the SSC officials. SSC JE 2022 Eligibility: Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either:

  • a citizen of India, or
  • a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • a person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India

There is no mention of the minimum percentage required in the degree course so that all candidates irrespective of their marks in academics can compete in the exam.

SSC JE Eligibility: Age Limit

SSC JE age criteria differ as per the post applied by a candidate. Given below are the post-wise age criteria that candidates need to meet as of January 1, 2022, in order to be eligible for the exam:

Q:   How many attempts are allowed at SSC JE exam?
A:

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the SSC JE exam. Candidates can apply for the SSC JE till they attain the maximum age limit mentioned in the official notification for their category. The Commission also provides the age relaxation to certain categories. Candidates should check the official notification to know about all such relaxations. You can appear for the exam as many times you want if you meet the SSC JE eligibility criteria.

Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for both the papers of SSC JE exam?
A:
Yes, it is mandatory to appear for both paper 1 and 2 of SSC JE exam. Both the papers are compulsory as the Paper 1 is conducted to shortlist the candidates for mains exam and is qualifying in nature. On the other hand, the paper 2 (mains) exam is conducted to shortlist candidates for the  Document verification.
 
The final cut off released on the basis of the marks obtained in the paper 2 exam and the document verification. The candidates securing the marks equal to or more than the cut off marks is considered qualified for the exam and gets recruited as per the preferences made by the candidates.
Q:   What are the steps to apply for SSC JE exam?
A:

The SSC JE application form 2025 is available on the official website of the Commission. Candidates can fill out the application form for SSC JE 2025 in two parts - registration and application.

Candidates need to follow the given steps for SSC JE registration 2025:

  • Visit the official website - ssc.nic.in
  • Click on 'New User? Register Now' link
  • Fill all the required details such as ID number, name, parents' names, gender, date of birth, category, Class 10 exam details, level of educational qualification, address, mobile number, etc.
  • Submit the form and registration number will be generated

After registration is completed

  • Upload the signature and photo 
  • Pay the application fee 
  • Submit the application form and take a printout of the SSC JE appliction form

SSC JE age limit varies as per the post applied by a candidate. However, it varies from 21 years to 32 years. SSC JE age limit is mentioned in the official notification of the exam.
