Kerala SET 2023: The window to edit the Kerala SET application form has been opened on May 13, 2023. The last date to edit the application form is May 15, 2023. Kerala SET application process closed on May 10, 2023. Candidates could pay their application fees till May 12, 2023. Kerala SET admit card 2023 will be issued to all the registered candidates one or weeks before the exam.

What is Kerala SET?

Kerala State Eligibility Test is organised by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, for the candidates to be selected as Higher Secondary School Teachers and Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE. Qualifying for the Kerala SET is stipulated as a mandatory requirement for candidates to be appointed as Higher Secondary School Teachers in the State.

The Kerala SET exam is of a four-hour duration. As part of the Kerala SET exam, aspirants have to give two papers. While Paper 1 is common for all candidates, Paper 2 contains questions from the subject in which the candidate had a specialisation at the post-graduation level. Candidates can select from a list of 31 subjects to give the Kerala SET Paper 2 exam. These subjects are listed below.

Kerala SET Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a specific subject with not less than 50 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent grade. Apart from this, aspirants should have a B Ed degree in any discipline from any university in Kerala or possess these qualifications from any other university which is considered to be at par with these universities. However, there are some exceptions to the Kerala SET eligibility criteria 2023 and these exceptions are listed below.

Have MSc Ed degree in the concerned subject with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade from any Regional Instituted of Education that are sponsored by NCERT.

Botany and Zoology

Have MSc Ed degree in the concerned subject with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade from any Regional Instituted of Education that are sponsored by NCERT.

Or

Have MSc Ed degree in Life Science with at least 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade from any  Regional Institutes of Education

Anthropology, Commerce, French, Gandhian Studies, Geology, German, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Russian, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics and Syriac

Possess B Ed degree

English

Possess II class Master’s Degree in Communicative English with at least 50 per cent marks as well as BEd degree.

Hindi

“Candidates who have acquired BEd Degree in Hindi conducted by the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha are exempted from the requirement of producing the equivalency certificate, as the degree has been recognized by the Universities in Kerala”, informs the official website.

Latin

Cleared their degree exam in any discipline (from any University in Kerala or recognized as equivalent) with Latin as their second language under Paper II wherein they have secured at least 50% marks. These eligibility criteria hold true only if the aspirants has secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for that Part II.

Aspirants are informed that they do not meet the eligibility criteria for Kerala SET 2023 if they have secured their qualifications through Correspondence Courses/ Open Universities which are not recognised by any one of the Universities in Kerala. Also, “candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses/Open universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognition and equivalency from any one of the Universities in Kerala”, states the official website.

Note: Aspirants possessing the Master’s degree with the minimum marks required to meet the SET eligibility criteria and are in the final year of BEd degree programme are also eligible for Kerala SET 2022. Similarly, candidates who have secured their BEd degree and are in the final year of their post-graduate programme also meet the eligibility criteria. The official website informs: “Such candidates must produce the Certificates of their qualifying examinations passed with the minimum required marks within one year from the date of publication of the results of the test, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified”.

Kerala SET 2023: Marks Relaxation for SC/ST

SC/ ST candidates who want to appear for Kerala SET are granted a 5 per cent marks relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks required to be eligible to appear for SET.

Kerala SET Age Limit

There is no prescribed age limit for aspirants who want to appear for the state eligibility test.

Kerala SET Selection Process 2023

The selection process of Kerala SET 2023 exam edition includes the following steps:

Step 1: Fill Kerala SET application form

Aspirants need to apply for Kerala SET application form on the official website of the test. All candidates need to submit their application form and pay the fee in order to receive the Site Access Key as well as the Application Number.

Step 2: Download Kerala SET admit card

Candidates need to download Kerala SET admit card from the official website of the exam. In order to download the KSET admit card, candidates need to fill in details such as their-Application Number and Date of Birth/Site Access Key.

Step 3: Appear for Kerala SET

Candidates need to appear for Kerala SET exam as per the time and test centre details mentioned in their admit card. Kerala SET comprises of two test papers which are of 120 minutes each.
