SSC JE preparation requires a dedicated effort of over one year. The Commission test the candidates for their engineering aptitude and the subjective knowledge of the engineering branch opted by the candidate. These engineers are posted in various Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) and affiliated institutions. The commission conducts the exam yearly. This year, the Commission did not release the number of vacancies in the original notification. SSC JE 2022 exam will be conducted as a Computer-Based Exam(CBE) from November 14 to 16 at the designated exam centres across the nation.
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts SSC JE exam to shortlist eligible candidates for the post of Junior Engineers (JEs) in various branches of Engineering including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts. Candidates with a degree/diploma in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering are eligible to appear for the exam.

SSC JE Syllabus and Exam Pattern
SSC JE preparation comes becomes easy when you thoroughly know and understand the syllabus and pattern of the exam.
The SSC JE exam is conducted in two stages:
- Paper-I: An online objective-type test
- Paper-II: An offline descriptive test
SSC JE paper-I is divided into three sections. The third section is further divided into three parts. Candidates have the option of attempting questions from any one part only. Total weightage of SSC JE paper-I is 200 marks.

In SSC JE paper-II, candidates have to write descriptive answers of on any one Engineering topic:
- General Engineering (Civil & Structural)
- General Engineering (Electrical)
- General Engineering (Mechanical)
The total weightage of paper II is 300 marks.
