M.Sc. in Physics - Batch of 2024
Offered by Aligarh Muslim University

One of the most renowned institutes of our country .
Placements: I will have completed my Masters in Physics from Aligarh Muslim University in 2024. About 10% of a batch of 50 Student were placed. The package was in the range of 4-6 LPA. The top recruiters were coaching centres like Aakash, Physics Wallah and Bansal. About 10% of the students got the internship, which included paid internships in different countries such as Taiwan and China. Masters in Physics opened multiple opportunities for the students to pursue their careers in different fields, such as research work, teaching professions and engineering.
Infrastructure: Aligarh Muslim University is one of the best and most prestigious institutes of India and it offers the best facilities for it's students. The hostels were huge, the infrastructure was extremely beautiful and the whole campus had Wi-Fi. The food had multiple options, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian, as preferred by the students. The Department of Physics had separate labs for each year of students, along with multiple other specialization labs such as the condensed physics lab, the nuclear lab, the physics lab, and the spectroscopy lab and each one of them had the best equipment that you will ever find in all of Asia. AMU has one of the biggest Asian libraries named Maulana Azad Library. It is a seven-story library with multiple reading rooms and research sections continuing more than 14 lac books. Along with this, each department has its own seminar library with a large number of books where students can sit and study without much disturbance.
Faculty: The teachers are extremely helpful to every student. All of them are extremely brilliant and have even worked with Nobel laureates. The relevance depends on your requirements as a student. It might not be the best course if you are looking to get the most job opportunities that one might get in professional courses like engineering and BCA. The semester exams are not difficult per se but they do require the students to be fairly regular and dedicated to their studies. The minimum passing marks are 34 out of 100 for each subject.
Other: Since an early age, I have had a great interest in physics, which led me to choose this course as I had a desire to pursue a career in research. This course gives you opportunities to do research in various fields of physics and even provides opportunities to study at some of the most reputed institutions all over the world. The academic year is filled with festivals and events, with the cultural education club being the sole organizer of these events. In addition to that, each hall of residence has its own festival every year and students from all around the campus can participate in the events and win prizes.

Review of Aligarh Muslim University.
Placements: This course provided many internships in different companies outside Aligarh, like Delhi, Mumbai, etc. In my first year, two or three students were doing internships. Around 60% of students got internships in M.Sc Physics. They were offered different roles.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of physics department is quite good and peaceful. They provided large classrooms, a separate room for girls, 3 to 4 grounds to sit on, a seminar library and labs in which all equipment is available. I do not know about the hostel structure as I am a day scholar.
Faculty: Teachers in physics department are very knowledgeable and senior. They provided a high quality of teaching. Physics can open many fields for students, like teaching, physicians, etc. Semester exams are difficult because physics is a hard subject. Pass percentage is 34%.
Other: I chose this course because I recently graduated from B.Sc Physics. That is why I have left with this option only. The best thing about this course is that it only has labs and practicals. There is nothing to improve. Many events are held on campus and scholarship programmes are available there for needy students.

The college has great faculty, good infrastructure, and average placements.
Placements: Placements in the college are not too good, just average. Almost 40% of the students got placed in the campus placements. The salary packages offered by the companies are satisfactory. The average salary package offered was 6 LPA. Many students got internship opportunities which helps them a lot in making their career. There is a general training and placement cell which provides resources to the students for improving their skills. It is very efficient as per the student's point of view.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good. There is greenery all around the campus. The campus is huge and spacious with lots of resources like the library. It is Asia's largest library, equipped with a large number of books, research papers, journals, etc. Smart classrooms are also available. The whole campus is enabled with Wi-Fi facility.
Faculty: Faculty members in AMU are one the best, well-experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are always in the department just to help the students all the time. They generally use smart techniques for teaching. There are sufficient faculty members for the strength of students enrolled in various courses in the department. Also, the course curriculum was useful.
Other: Many activities related to practical knowledge of the subjects is organised on a regular basis. Guest lectures, seminar, and sessions are conducted to increase the knowledge of students, or to make them aware of the latest research works.

A place of learning. A place where you get a healthy environment for learning physics.
Placements: Placements here are good. Students have been offered roles of faculty members in schools, scientific assistant, lab assistants, etc. The salary offered is about Rs. 35,000-50,000 pr month depends on the job profile. The placement rate is about 60-70%. But most of them opt for higher education. Our university has a placement cell, and it is very useful and helpful in getting jobs.
Infrastructure: Our department of physics is spread over about 6-8 acres in area. There are separate labs for each year. There are well-equipped laboratories. There are classrooms with a projector facility. The quality of the classrooms is very good. There are also labs for different subjects. There are also a seminar hall and library for study.
Faculty: Our department has well-qualified faculty members from various reputed departments of India and outside. We have collaboration with many countries for research. Some of the members have collaboration with Nobel laureates. The teacher to student ratio is about 3:1. The course is based on NET syllabus.
Other: Here, we have a society of physics which organises lectures on various topics, and other curriculum activities. Our department also organises a departmental test to provide scholarships for rankers.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty and my classmates, and I am proud to be here.
Placements: We have a total of 50 students in the course of M.Sc. Physics in 2019 from AMU, out of which, about 10 to 15 have qualified competitive exams like GATE, NET, JRF, JEST and got admission in PhD in various IITs. 2 students have qualified for scientific officers in BARC 2019 exam.
Infrastructure: All the facilities are available, like a seminar hall, a separate library for the physics department, unlimited Wi-Fi for 24 hours, separate labs for different courses. The quality of hostels and food is very good. Everything is available in AMU. I love AMU.
Faculty: All the teachers are highly qualified and helpful. There are the most intelligent ones like Prof. Mohd Sajjad Athar, Dr. Jai Praksh-assistant professor etc. About 100 teachers are available, and they all are well qualified with PhDs. They all are helpful.
Other: Physics is the most interesting subject, and we can study a lot of things.

Hi Akanksha, No departmental test is no different from the entrance exam, it is just that different department conducts entrance of the respective subject in which you apply in the University. I hope you are clear about this. Good luck
