3. Higher Education Special Scholarship: This scholarship is only eligible for the hostel students belonging to SC / SCA / ST and Converted Christian categories, whose annual income from all sources should not exceed more than INR 2.50 Lacs per annum.
4. BC/MBC/DNC Categories Scholarship: This is valid for students belonging to BC/MBC/DNC categories whose parent’s income from all sources is not more than INR 2 Lacs per annum.

Firstly, aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria for PhD at Annamalai University. Further, the selection is based on a PG entrance test conducted by the university followed by an interview round. The weightage of the entrance exam is 70 and for the interview is 30.
