The Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, also known as Thapar University, runs seventeen hostels on its campus, which consists of ten male hostels and seven female hostels to ensure a homely stay-away-from-home experience. Description: Agira Hall is one of the new additions to the male hostel facilities. It has 928 rooms and is basically full of double room occupants with shared bathrooms. The rooms have all basic requirements of a student including a study table, chair, wardrobe, bookshelf, shoe-rack, mattress, geyser, curtains, and dustbins. The facilities are designed to offer a comfortable environment.

2. Amritam Hall – Earlier known as Hostel B

Description: Amritam Hall is a relaxed and comfortable residential accommodation.

3. Prithvi Hall – Previously Hostel C

Number of students: 387 students

Description: Prithvi Hall is one of Thapar University’s older hostels meant for male students, but it has been refurbished with new amenities. This hall accommodates 387 students in two- and three-seated rooms. This hostel is provided with various amenities both for leisure and academic purposes. Some of the amenities that are provided include a reading room, television and common room, and indoor games such as table tennis, chess, and carrom.

Description: Neeram Hall is a big and modern hostel meant for male students with accommodation of 928 students where most of the rooms are double-seated rooms with shared washroom. The rooms are provided with amenities like study tables, chairs, wardrobes, book racks, shoe racks, mattresses, geysers, and others.

5. Vyan Hall – Previously Hostel H

Description: Vyan Hall is an accommodation meant for approximately 680 students, which includes air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned accommodations. As per the hostel information on the website of Thapar, there are 60 rooms of 240 students that have been made air-conditioned. Recreational and fitness facilities are provided in this hall. There is a gymnasium, TV room, table tennis room, and reading room in this hostel.

6. Tejas Hall - Former Hostel J

Capacity: 1,170 students

Description: Tejas Hall is among the biggest male hostels at Thapar University, with an overall capacity of 1,170 people. The building is a multi-storey residential complex that can house a large number of students with modern living amenities. Tejas Hall has single-seat accommodation for 858 people and consists of clusters where there are geysers. Besides, water coolers fitted with RO systems are installed on each floor. Moreover, the hostel has 24*7 wireless internet connection.

7. Ambaram Hall - Former Hostel K

8. Viyat Hall - Former Hostel L

Capacity: 300 students

Description: Viyat Hall is a comparatively smaller male hostel with the capacity of 300 people. This hostel offers air-conditioned double room and is located near Thapar Polytechnic. One of the unique features is a dining setup, as there is a dining hall that can accommodate 150 students at the same time. Also, the hostel is equipped with a kitchen and night canteen, which is especially beneficial for those who stay up late.

9. Anantam Hall — Formerly Hostel M

Description: Anantam Hall is one of Thapar's largest and most modern boys' residences, accommodating 1,148 students. It is a multistorey building spread across four towers and eight floors. Students can choose between single- and double-seater air-conditioned rooms, with both attached and shared washroom arrangements available. The rooms include study tables, chairs, almirahs, book racks, mattresses, geysers, curtains and dustbins. The hostel also provides RO water systems, water coolers and sofa sets on every floor.

Description: Ananta Hall is a modern multistorey girls' hostel with a stated capacity of 500 students.
