Goa University cutoff for various MD and MS courses is based on NEET PG scores followed by the NEET PG Counselling. As per the NEET PG Round 2 cutoff, the closing rank for MS courses fell between 5970 and 11509 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. Among all the MS specialsilations, the most competitive one was Obstetrics & Gynecology, followed by General Surgery. The fee structure is different for different courses based on the stream and duration of the courses. Additional fees like that of hostels can also be added in the yearly fee structure if one opts for it. In the Goa University, the passing rates are divergent in both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students under the UG have to pass a minimum of 40 percent aggregate mark on a combination of theory and practical. In respect to PG, both internal and end-of the semester assessment needs a minimum of 50 percent. Such criteria are able to support academic standards and fairness of all courses.

To ensure fair access, Goa University strictly follows the state government's reservation guidelines for its BE admissions. The current seat distribution includes: 
27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
12% for Scheduled Tribes (ST).
10% for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the Un-Reserved Category.
2% for Scheduled Castes (SC).
These percentages apply to both local domicile and All India seats as per the Directorate of Higher Education.

For students pursuing a BE at Goa University, the cell organizes campus recruitment drives, soft skills training, and workshops to boost employability. They have also signed MoUs with specialised training providers like Rubicon Skills Development to ensure students are well-prepared for technical interviews and professional challenges in the corporate world.

After the JEE results are announced, the DTE Goa releases the information brochure and application forms in early May. To seek admission to the BE course of Goa University, it is necessary to fill the application forms correctly and submit them physically to the collection centers by mid-May.

Students who have completed a three-year Diploma in engineering can apply for "Lateral Entry" to start directly in the second year. This process is managed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa, which releases a specific merit list based on your Diploma marks. Once you are allotted a seat in a college under Goa University, you can skip the first-year foundation subjects and jump straight into your chosen BE branch's core technical curriculum.
