HBTU Kanpur Courses & Fees 2025: UG, PG & Doctorate Courses

HBTU accepts the JEE Main entrance exam for providing admission to its BTech program. The cutoff was released for different categories of students belonging to the AI and HS quotas. For the general category students under the AI quota, the JEE Main Round 2 closing ranks varied between 11799 and 87115, with CSE being the most competitive specialisation for admission. The university faciliate placement support to the graduates. HBTU has not released course-wise placement report as of now. However, as per a consolidates report of placement 2023, 400 students were placed. The highest package offered to the placed candidates stood at INR 36 LPA. Moreover, some of the popular recruiters were Berger Paints, Cognizant (GenC), Acceldata Technology Pvt. Ltd.  

Harcourt Butler Technical University conducts placements drive for its students. Many popular companies, such as Adani Wilmar, BSNL, Coca-Cola take part in the placements drive. As per HBTU 2023 placements report (consolidated), a total of 484 job offers were made. The highest and average package offered was INR 36 LPA and INR 9.30 LPA, respectively. The NTA has released the exam dates for the JEE Main 2025 Session 2. Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will be administered on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, 2025. Paper 1 will be administered only in the second shift on April 8. The Session 2 registration is closed, and the last date to apply was February 25, 2025. The applicants are requested to download their city intimation slip, to be released in the third week of March, and admit cards, to be available three days prior to the exam date, from the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The total seat sanctioned for an MBA at HBTU Kanpur is 240. Candidates are admitted as per the sanctioned seat count and performance in the selection rounds. The university reserves the right to revise the seat count in any academic year. Moreover, the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. Candidates who meet the course-specific eligibility requirements can apply for this course. Thus, the aspirants with a valid bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Medicine/Sciences/Arts/Commerce/Business Administration/Computer Application or other disciplines as approved by with at least 55% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PD) or a CPI of 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) on a scale of 10 from any UGC/AICTE recognised institute/university are eligible. 

HBTU Kanpur carries out MBA admission procedure in three phases. In the first phase, applicants with a valid CAT or CUET-PG scores are shortlisted and called for group discussion and personal interview (GD & PI) round. In the second phase, candidates with a score of CMAT/AIMA-MAT/CUET-PG are called for GD & PI. If the seats are left vacant after the two phases, then the university conducts an entrance examination to fill out the vacant seats. The MBA project evaluation at Harcourt Butler Technical University is done internally (50 marks) and externally (50 marks). It is carried out through open presentation and viva method. The project should be submitted by the candidates in the last year of the course. 

The application form is generally released by HBTU Kanpur in August month of the academic year. It shall be out in and around the release of CUET result. Moreover, the CUET 2025 application window is expected to be opened from Feb to Apr. 

The UG course aspirants who have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam pass from a recognised board can apply. In addition, the qualifying exam should have been passed with a minimum of 55% aggregate. Candidates must hold the pass certificates at the time of form filling and admission procedure. It must be noted that the minimum aggregate is as per unofficial sources and hence, is indicative.

Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur offers a four-year full-time BTech programme. The university offers BTech at the UG level in over 10 specialisations. Below are some of the BTech specialisations offered at HBTU:

It is necessary that each aspirant fulfil the course-specific eligibility requirements. Thus, the aspirants who have completed Class 12 with at least 55% aggregate (50% aggregate for reserved category) in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Computer Science are eligible to apply for a BTech course in HBTU. Moreover, for BTech Lateral Entry, aspirants need to pass CUET exam and should have completed a three-year Engineering Diploma with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% aggregate for SC/ ST).

Out of 75 CSE students, 68 were eligible for the 2023 placement session. Further, 71 offers were distributed among the placed students. Looking at the past three years' data (2021 to 2023), a fluctuating trend was recorded in the number of offers made to CSE students. The HBTU CSE average package is not disclosed for the 2023 drive. The cutoff in HBTU is the most competitive for the BTech CSE programme. Hence, it is one of the top course of the university. HBTU has been ranked #115 for its BTech course in the Times 2024 rankings. As per HBTU Kanpur 2022-23 consolidated placement report, the highest and average packge offered stood at INR 36 LPA and INR 9.30 LPA, respectively. Considering the course fee of the university, the ROI is good. Hence, BTech aspirants can definitely consider applying for admission in this university.
