Overall, my college is the best, very affordable in Delhi NCR, and the placements are also good.
Placements: I am from the mechanical branch, and I heard three students got packages of 22 and above in the core sector from JMI. The average package for mechanical is 7 to 8 LPA, and almost 70 percent of students got selected this year. Some students go to the IT sector from the core sector and get placements in MNCs.
Infrastructure: All the facilities are here. Mind-blowing hostels are like apartments, and every facility is there. Unfortunately, there are very limited seats in the hostel. They charge a 200 fee for hostel registration. After this, they conduct an interview, and according to the interview and points based on the distance of the college to your home, and 12 percent of your percentage above 75, you will get 20 points. There are criteria for points.
Faculty: The syllabus is too vast at JMI Engineering, where professors are also good, but some are rude. For example, in the ED subject, there is a sir who is very strict and literally, they can do anything, so we need to be aware of them. Except for him, all are good, but the lectures given in college are not sufficient. You need to study from YouTube or AI, as there are many derivations.
Other: At JMI, one thing is just awesome: the library facilities. Almost at every gate, you will find a library, and it is fully ventilated with a peaceful area where all students study without any noise. Wi-Fi speed is good, and there are three canteens with awesome food that is not expensive. The only problem is the crowd, which is very large. The fees are very affordable compared to any other college. Literally, it is only 20k per year for the JMI regular batch. They recently launched a self-finance branch, which costs 1.5 lakh fees every year, but the regular branch is awesome.

The location is the best and has the best infrastructure.
Placements: More than 60% of students are placed in 2024-25, and the best placement for mechanical is in 2022, with the highest of 22 Lacs, and the lowest is about 3.5 Lacs, with an average of 7.5 Lacs. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Accenture, Tata Motors, etc. More than 30% of students got internships during the summer and winter vacations.
Infrastructure: We have an engineering library, and we can issue books for our academic study. The reading room has Wi-Fi and AC. There are a total of 6 boys' hostels, of which F.R.K. and A.P.J. are the best of all 6, and there are 3 girls' hostels. The mess is hygienic, and the food is acceptable and good for this price. We also have a sports complex and a clinic for students and staff.
Faculty: Mechanical has very good professors with great knowledge and experience. They are all Ph.D. holders, and the practical knowledge that professors provide makes us practically very good. Exams are like 2 midterms of 15 marks and 1 end semester of 45 marks for each subject, and they are not that hard.

Experienced faculty and the best placement in 2022 and 2024-25.
Placements: Mechanical is the oldest department of JMI Engineering, but nowadays, the placement of mechanical students is not good. Big software companies don't give a chance to mechanical students except for 2-3 companies, but in core companies, it's a decent placement with an average of 7 Lacs, and the highest in 2024-25 is 22 Lacs, while the lowest is 3 Lacs. Top recruiting companies include TCS, Tata Motors, etc.
Infrastructure: Mechanical is the oldest department in the Faculty of Engineering, and the infrastructure is an old-style red color building all over the campus. Engineering has a separate library for engineering students and centralized AC and Wi-Fi on campus. There are 6 hostels which are decent in price, 1 sports complex in GATE No. 3, and the Ansari Clinic for students in GATE No. 4.
Faculty: The faculty of mechanical engineering is very experienced, with professors who have practical knowledge. Since the beginning, the mechanical department has produced very good professors due to being the oldest department in JMI, and they make us strong in the field of a practical approach. There are 2 midterms and 1 end-of-semester exam taken, which are easy to pass.

Empowering minds with practical engineering excellence.
Placements: 52 percent of students have been placed. The highest package was 18 lakhs from JIT Japan, and the lowest was from TCS. The top recruiter was Siemens, and many students secured positions in electrical engineering-specific and computer science jobs. It is value for money.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good but old. In most of the classes, AC is not present, and buildings are quite old and need to be renovated. However, considering the college fees, it is not surprising to see that. For the betterment of the college, they have introduced self-finance courses.
Faculty: Faculty service is very good, and they are very helpful and engaging. Many of them are among the best scientists of this world, and there is an updated syllabus in our college, which is updated regularly. They are very experienced, active, and passionate about the betterment of students.

Satisfied with the faculty members and the facilities.
Placements: In the last year, the 2024 batch, approximately 40% of students in mechanical engineering got placed. The mass recruiter was L&T, which took approximately 19% of students. In the current year, the 2025 batch, after the completion of the 1st placement session, approximately 23% of students got placed with the highest package of 7.5 LPA offered by Idea and 15% hired by L&T. The highest package is 7 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA, making an average of 3.5 LPA. In the last year, approximately 90% of students got the internship, but there is not any specific company. The topmost role offered is junior graduate engineer trainee.
Infrastructure: As a central university, it has a good infrastructure and full access to Wi-Fi, a library, and good lab facilities with well-knowledgeable faculty members. The department staff were very helpful and cooperative. Every classroom under the mechanical department has a projector installed and is in working condition. The engineering faculty has its own auditorium. In the hostel you'll have access to Wi-Fi and a decent room with a study table, a chair, and a bed for each student. The quality of food fluctuates between good and poor, but most of the time it is average, but the menu is well designed. There are numbers of canteens present throughout the university. Jamia offers free medical treatment to its students. Jamia has one of the biggest sports facilities in Delhi after IIT, where it organizes sports events.
Faculty: In the Mechanical Engineering Department, all the teachers were well qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful. The quality of teaching was excellent; almost all the professors gave their 100%. Yes, after the implementation of the new pattern, the courses were more relevant than they were before, but you always need to develop a new skill in every course. The semester was comparatively easy, and the pass percentage is 40%, and you'll need to be passed in both internal and the external individual.
Other: The best thing I like in mechanical engineering is the relatability with the world and the practical applications. I think the classroom needs more improvements. Jamia organizes various events and fests as there are numbers of societies. You will always have an option for extracurricular activity, as Jamia supports this.

Jamia Millia Islamia from inside.
Placements: Percentage of students placed in my course varies every year; last year it was around 50-60%. The top recruiter is L&T for the Mechanical Engineering department with a CTC of 6-8 LPA. The lowest package offer is 3.5 LPA, and the highest package goes up to 14-15 LPA. Roles offered are Design Engineering, GET, and Software Engineer. About 80-90% of students do at least one internship in their college year; some of them are provided by the recruiting companies like L&T, Mahindra, and others; they grab it via applying to the company by themselves.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is excellent. Every classroom is equipped with a projector for teaching. Not all, but many classrooms have AC. Wi-Fi facilities are available in every classroom. There is a huge excess of books, magazines, current improvements in technologies, novels, articles etc. In the department library and the Zakir Hussain University Library. The college has a huge sports complex in which facilities are available for most of the sports. The hostel has quite good infrastructure with Wi-Fi, RO, water cooler, hot shower, common room, and playground. The mess food depends on the hostel you are residing in. It is okayish but could be improved. Both veg and non-veg options are available. Gym facilities are also there in the hostels. For students of the college, there is a hospital ( M.A. Ansari Hospital) and a dentistry department where they can get treatment at no cost when needed.
Faculty: The faculty here is very experienced and knowledgeable, with many having experience over 30+ years. They know, with that many years of experience, how to teach to the student in the most efficient and logical way possible. They have their degrees from IITs and many renowned foreign universities. The teaching quality is 9/10. The curriculum is updated every few years and is relevant to the industry level, but there are some gaps which need to be filled, like the integration of technologies like AI and ML, which may be integrated within a few years. The semester exams vary on the subject, but overall, it’s a moderate to difficult level with a passing percentage of about 90 to 95% .
Other: The college has enormous opportunities to connect with people like you. There are many societies here to join, like the dance, painting, music clubs, and there are many societies to work on your technical skills along with people like you. Some societies are IEEE Jamia, TRS Jamia, ASME Jamia, SAE , etc. There are non-technical societies to develop leadership qualities in you, like Enactus, 180DC Jamia, etc. The college hosts many cultural and technical fests, like Crescentia and Jasn-e-Aagaaz, which are cultural fests, and technical fests are Enconium and Celestra, Thrive etc. Which held in Jan-Feb each year. There are many other event. Seminars, like seminars and talks, which are held all around the year. The faculty is outstanding and very supportive. These are the reasons I chose this course in the college. Things that could be improved are that there should be more emphasis on the practical aspect and that there should be some relation between attendance, which is currently 75% mandatory attendance.

Life at Jamia: Through an Engineering POV.
Placements: Around 70-75 percent of students get placed in my department of Mechanical engineering. The highest package offered yet is 14 LPA by ZS Associate, and the lowest is about 3.36 LPA by Tata Consultancy Services. Around 90 percent of students get internships from our course in various industries as well as government PSUs.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided are top-class from the university. The infrastructure is pretty good. Most of the buildings are old but are renovated termly. All the buildings are accommodated with Wi-Fi and top-end classrooms. The hostel is very peaceful with lawns in front of every building. Hostels are provided with common rooms, reading rooms, and Wi-Fi connections in all the rooms.
Faculty: The professors are very knowledgeable and experienced. Most of the professors have done their Ph.D. from IITs and also have some industry experience. The teaching style is old school with interacting new technologies as well. The course is up to date and is very engaging and fun. The semester exams are of moderate levels and require some amount of critical thinking while answering.
Other: I chose this course because I love engineering, and I always wanted to study in a government college. Also, the university is very affordable, and the NIRF ranking of the college is also a plus point. There is not much that I want to improve, but the classes should be renovated and made a little bit better. A lot of events happen in the college, and the crowd is very diverse.

Review of Engineering at JMI.
Placements: The average package of JMI Mechanical has been 4 to 5 LPA each year, and companies like L&T, JSW, TCS, and Yamaha have been recruiters as well. Till now, in the current batch, 14 students have been placed at L&T, and IDEA hired a few students, while some companies still need to visit. In the summer, almost every student has done an internship through the help of the placement cell or by applying on their own, and some students have interned at ONGC, Niti Aayog, BPCL, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Steel, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Most students are getting hired as GETs, but some companies like ZS and EXL also hire as business analysts and decision associates. In the end, you should have a good CGPA and good academics to get shortlisted by visiting companies.
Infrastructure: Engineering department of JMI is good. A few of the classrooms are so good and well maintained, but there are a few classrooms which are maintained but have a problem like no AC, and students suffer in the summer. Wi-Fi connectivity is there in the entire campus of JMI. One will never feel a shortage of internet here. For engineering students, there is a separate library which is good and well maintained, but it is just open till 5 PM and the rest of the library is open till 12 PM. During exams, the library is open here till 2 AM at night. Labs in Mechanical Engineering are average, but you will feel like some professors are really working hard, but some are just coming to the lab, taking attendance, and leaving the classroom. Overall, it's average. When it comes to hostel facilities, it becomes more difficult because getting a hostel is not an easy process as the number of applicants is more, and seats are very few. You can get a hostel if you have sources of anyone who is working in JMI.
Faculty: Faculty in Mechanical Engineering is well qualified, and all the professors have done their course from IITs and top institutes, but there are a few professors who are helpful and have a good nature towards students and also give good grades. But on the other side, some professors are so strict that once they give a backlog, it won't be easy to clear. Many seniors are here who got back in back papers again even after requesting the professor too much. The subjects they are teaching are quite relevant to those interview questions companies are asking for a GET role. Semester exams are easy if you have covered the last 3 years of PYQs; you will get passed, and in a few subjects, you can get good grades because the entire paper will be from those PYQs.
Other: The best thing about JMI Engineering is that it is the most affordable college in the entire country, and you will never have to take a loan for your fees. The same goes for the hostel; the fee is also very low. However, if you choose to live outside, the cost can go slightly more. There will be a few fests, not too many, but you can join and enjoy them. The campus is open till 12 PM so you can stay and roam around the campus anytime with your friends’ circle. That is the best part of JMI.

As your JEE Mains rank is 30300 in ews category, so it will be a little bit difficult for you to get a seat in first round of the counselling process. But, I will suggest you to participate in the counselling process till the last round to get mechanical.
