JMI Entrance Exam is conducted for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The exam pattern of all the courses is different. The pattern of some courses include only multiple choice questions, while some courses have a descriptive section as well. Hence, a candidate must go through the exam pattern before appearing for the test and prepare accordingly.
To get a PG Diploma in Urdu Media from JMI, candidates must have at least 55% marks in Urdu, Persian or Arabic in the final exams of their class 12.
Candidates need to appear in the CUET UG exam to get admission in some of the undergraduate courses of Jamia Millia Islamia. These courses are: B.Tech, B.Arch B.A. (Hons) Persian, B.A. (Hons) Urdu, B.A. (Hons) (History), B.A. (Hons. ). French and Francophone Studies, B.A. (Hons. ). The JMI Entrance Exam cutoff marks are the minimum marks required to pass the test. These are published along with the declaration of the results. The cutoff marks vary from programme to programme. The cutoff marks for some programmes from past cycles of the exam are provided below. This will give aspirants an idea of the required score.
BA Hons Psychology - 47 (General Cutoff), 40.50 (For Muslim examinees)
BA/ BSc Hons Geography - 42.25 (General Cutoff), 37.50 (For Muslim examinees)
MA Public Administration - 51 (General Cutoff), 45 (For Muslim examinees)

As per JMI exam pattern, there is negative marking in Multiple Choice Questions in JMI entrance exam. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 mark will be deducted and 1 marks will be awarded for every correct answer.

The JMI Entrance Exam is conducted only once in a year. The Jamia Millia Islamia University conducts the Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam to shortlist candidates for admission in various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PG Diploma Advanced Diploma, M.Phil Ph.D. and Certificate courses like -
Engineering, Architecture & Planning, Hospitality & Travel, Animation, Mass Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Languages, Commerce, Natural Sciences, Dentistry, Law, Fine Arts, Management Studies as well as Teaching & Education.
As per exam pattern for JMI entrance exam 2026 for MBA, there are three sections in question paper. These are Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English. The JMI question paper includes 170 objtective type questions and candidates will get three hours to complete exam. Examinees have to mark the correct answer in OMR sheet. There is also a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
To get admission at Jamia Millia Islamia, students have to register and appear for the entrance exam. JMI will offer seats based on scores obtained in exam. For some courses, candidates have to also appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview round.
Selected candidates will have to then get their documents verified, participate in counselling process and pay course fee.
