Good for exploration and college life but not so good for placements.
Placements: Since engineering started in JNU in 2018, there was something problem with placements. The first batch passed in 2023 and their record was the highest 33 LPA off-campus and 16 LPA on-campus. The average package is 12 LPA. Placement percentage is 70% and top companies are Infosys, etc.
Infrastructure: Hostel is quite good and free of cost. But since engineering started in 2018 there has been no permanent building of school of engineering. But government approved making new buildings and construction of new buildings is well ongoing and expected date for opening new buildings is January 2026.
Faculty: Faculty members are quite good. All the teachers belong to well reputated college. There is no attendance policy in JNU so it is also one of the most important things. Semester exams are not quite difficult to qualify but for scoring high CGPA is difficult.
Other: I chose JNU because my rank in JEE was 34k and I wanted CSE as per my rank. This is the best college because it gives high networking from people and exploration.

JNU School of Engineering (SOE) is a good college.
Placements: Hi there. I am Prasad Pullela, a student at JNU pursuing a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. JNU School of Engineering started in year 2018, which is relatively recent, so placements for the first and second batches of engineers were not very strong, with only 10% of students placed at that time. Some students were dissatisfied with the packages offered, while others were uninterested in placements and chose to pursue post-graduation, research fields, or state and central government jobs. Placements has improving and are currently in a developing stage. In 2024, placements progressed from average to good. Around 12 to 15 students secured positions in Amdocs during their academic year through internships. This number is expected to increase by the time our batch graduates. One can anticipate good placement opportunities from reputable companies at JNU School of Engineering.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi available in lecture halls, hostels, and the library. Hostel facilities are good and classrooms are also well-equipped. Currently, there is no dedicated center for engineering, but it is under construction and is expected to be completed by 2026, as promised by JNU administration. I have seen the plan sketches and a 3D model of the engineering center, and it looks amazing. There is also ongoing construction of hostels exclusively for engineering students with a capacity for 2000 members. Additionally, we have the largest library Dr. BR Ambedkar Central Library, with best facilities of books of different types.
Faculty: At JNU, we have highly qualified professors, some of whom have previously worked at NITs and IITs. They teach exceptionally well and actively help students by clarifying doubts, which is often less common in IITs and NITs. With their guidance, semester exams are manageable and not overly tough, falling at an average difficulty level. Students can write them with ease. The pass percentage at JNU is 50%.
Other: JNU campus is incredibly beautiful and home to various creatures that are not dangerous, such as nilgai, peacocks, deer, and a variety of herbs and plants with medicinal importance. There are different clubs where students participate in workshops, educational trips, and activities that enhance learning and help in resume building. ONE can gain knowledge and skills in areas like sports, coding, electronic circuits, fine arts, dance, and photography. These activities significantly contribute to improving skills and talents.

If one has no option, then come to this college.
Placements: It is my first year but I know seniors who got placements last year with salary package of 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 33 LPA, but it was an off-campus placement. I also know a second-year student who is doing an internship at MNIT Jaipur and has received offers for an internship from IIT Delhi.
Infrastructure: The course and hostel infrastructure available here are very bad because there is no building for classes on this campus. We have been living in a dormitory for four months and have not been assigned a hostel. New hostels and buildings for engineering students are under construction.
Faculty: Some teachers are very helpful but others are not. Teachers have very little experience but their qualifications are good, though not 100%. Semester exam level is normal and some teachers give questions directly from notes. Pass percentage is approximately 85.
Other: I want to share that if one really wants to do computer science, try not to come to this college. If one has no option, then one can come.

Absolutely satisfied with my decision of choosing this college.
Placements: The School of Engineering at JNU was established in 2018, and hence its first batch passed out very recently, with an average package of around 11 LPA, the highest being 16 LPA on campus and 33 LPA off-campus. Many big companies like Byju's, Amdocs, Wipro, and IBM visited the campus during the placement season. The placement scenario is expected to improve as more batches pass out.
Infrastructure: Currently, we have two buildings for SOE—one is for administrative purposes and computer labs, and the other is the Engineering Lecture Complex (ELC) where classes take place. Wi-Fi is available 24/7. There are multiple canteens on the JNU campus with decent food quality. There is an entire sports complex in the JNU premises, offering one the opportunity to explore different sports. In fact, a new building for the engineering division is under construction, which is expected to be fully constructed by 2026.
Faculty: The curriculum here is interdisciplinary, allowing you to learn technical and personality skills simultaneously, boosting the students' communication skills and hence making them industry-ready. The faculty is very helpful and friendly; you can consult them anytime with your doubts, and they are ready to help. The semester exams are like those in any other engineering college, where you can get good grades if you study well or vice versa.
Other: I have always wanted to do engineering, and studying at a prestigious university like JNU is itself a big opportunity. Our college hosts all sorts of fests, including technical fests like EngQuest, HackJNU, etc., and cultural fests like Udbhav, and so on. The college also offers financial concessions to students in certain income brackets. JNU has a lot to offer, and at the end of the day, one will never regret the choice of being a JNUite, as it boosts one's personality on so many levels.

I am very proud of my college and university and would love to see JNU achieve its lost glory again.
Placements: The placements are pretty average but we have seen growth in recent times. The alumni network of the SCSS school, which provides one of the best MCA courses in the whole of India, is pretty strong and helps us BTech students too. Along with that, the supporting seniors are great and the environment is great to explore different fields, especially with the 0 attendance policy.
Infrastructure: We still don't have our building made and are working on the building of SCSS but the construction work has started and we hope to see growth soon. The labs are quite good and the hostel provides the best they can at the boarding charges of 10 rupees per month.
Faculty: The faculty is top-notch, thanks to the brand name of JNU and are very supportive. The 0 attendance policy is a big positive and we as students are allowed to explore different fields, along with optional ones from different schools like international relations and languages.

Not good for students who are seeking campus placement opportunities.
Placements: The highest salary package offered is about 12 LPA. There's no need to worry too much about placement, it depends on students. It's more about students rather than a college or university. Around 20% of students got hired.
Infrastructure: Whole campus is Wi-fi enabled, but the speed is quite poor. Campus has a great network overall, so we can access the internet on mobile phones. There are no fees for a hostel and dorms are provided for those students who are unable to get a hostel room from the institute.
Faculty: Faculty members are not good. New staff lacks teaching experience and are unable to teach us without using PPT or handbook notes. Faculty members need to understand that skilled and qualified teachers are required for teaching.
Other: If one wants to enjoy college life, this is the best college. There is no need to worry about anything, as there is a freedom for both boys and girls.

Choosing between JNU and DU for MCA depends on multiple factors such as eligibility, fees, curriculum, and career prospects. DU MCA requires a minimum of 60% in graduation (with Mathematics background) and offers a two-year, four-semester programme with a flexible fee of around INR 66,000 per year.
