B.Tech. in Instrumentation Engineering - Batch of 2029
5.0
All details of our college.
Placements: About 85% B.Tech students get jobs. In my course, the highest package is 25 LPA, and the average package of my branch is about 8 LPA. Siemens, Tata Power, TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant are the top recruiting companies. About 90% students got internships from the campus. In this course, your opportunity of getting a good placement is high.
Infrastructure: In Calcutta University, when you take admission and in 1st year, your campus is the Technology Campus, Salt Lake, Sector 3, JD block. Infrastructure is decent, on all floors Wi-Fi is available, labs are neat and clean, a lift, and very special is its library, where you can study in a very cool atmosphere. In hostels, you can get a big, quiet room occupied by 3 students. A canteen is available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and behave like friends. In the matter of their knowledge, no doubt, they are masterpieces. They teach us very nicely, and we are also helped in studying GATE by them. They are all well qualified, most of them completed their M.Tech from IITs. Almost 85% student pass the semester examination. The semester exam is not too hard. If you follow the class notes, you can easily get a 9 CGPA.

B.Tech. in Information Technology - Batch of 2028
4.4
I am absolutely satisfied with fees and teachers. It has a good international ranking.
Placements: Not more but a few like 20% of students from our department got placed in well-reputed companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, and HSBC. Many students went for higher studies, i.e., M.Teach. Internships are similar to placement ones. We get internships in TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Cipla (for some science courses), and in some local startups or research labs for science/PG students.
Infrastructure: The library can be considered as the best. It has many books on technology, web development, hacking, and full-stack, but it is missing any topic. Wi-Fi is available. The canteen is also available. All these are constructed in modern designs and are well-maintained. Food is also good for our health. We consider having food from the canteen rather than outside.
Faculty: Faculty members are among the best. They have experience of more than 10-13 years. Even a few of them have been faculty members of IITs. They are polite too. It does not make us industry-ready, but it gives us a lot of free self-time to become industry-ready. From 2nd year, we will have almost 3 classes a week, with a suitable syllabus, and rest time for self-development.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.0
This is one of the best colleges in Kolkata, where you can study with quality.
Placements: For my department, we have an average of 8 LPA as Software Engineers or sometimes as Web Developers. We have other departments as well with great placements, and more than that, people here are much more interested in going abroad for higher education. Mostly, students from OOE go to Germany for higher studies from here.
Infrastructure: The food quality in the hostel is just amazing. We have a good menu which is decided by students themselves. It’s we who decide the food varieties, the food quality, and the food menu. Besides that, we also have a fest during Ramadan organized by one of our hostels, where we go for Iftar. There is 24x7 electricity and a good amount of Wi-Fi, and we are surrounded by good seniors. We also have always been helpful. We also have laboratories here, including a Chemistry lab, an Electrical and Electronics lab, a Physics lab, and a Computer lab with more than 50 computers.
Faculty: Faculty is very helpful. They never deny our requests. They are all highly qualified and intelligent. Talking about the curriculum, not many engineering colleges in India create industry-ready students, but I do see something different after reaching college. It is true that our syllabus doesn’t have the things it should create students are industry-ready. But they do support and help you wherever possible. Whether you want to participate in a hackathon or just want to learn DSA, faculty, and seniors are always there to help.
Other: Since it's just 8–10 years of the B.Tech program at Calcutta University, we don't have a very strong Alumni network. But we have departmental fests every year, and many clubs, including the Photography and Film Club, which conduct different events regularly. We also have a Debate Club affiliated with IEEE. The engineering program at Calcutta University is divided into three campuses, which makes each campus more breathable and less crowded. We have Salt Lake Campus for CSE, IT, and OOE. Ballygunge Science College for JFT and the rest of the programs like ECE, CT, PST, IE, and CE are held in Rajabazar Science College.

Applied Optics and Photonics Department review of CU.
Placements: Optics and Optoelectronics engineering is such a unique course which could help you secure good internship opportunities in organizations like ISRO, DRDO, CSIR, etc. and good placement offers at Paras Defence and Space Pvt. Ltd., Tejas Network, etc. It also provides higher education opportunities abroad India.
Infrastructure: The course is a combination of Electronics, Laser Physics, Fiber Optics, Classical Optics, Digital Image Processing, Non-linear Optics, illumination, etc. The labs are all equipped with all sorts of experiential setup and instruments, suitable for the course.
Faculty: The faculty members are more than just a teacher. They are recognized worldwide and they'll help you in every problem. Their strong recommendations are all that matters the most for studying abroad. Two semester exams are conducted each year, which follows a mid-sem exam.

Calcutta University is my second home.
Placements: 100% placement ratio is in the JFT branch. 10 LPA is the average package here. Mostly mass-recruiting companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and Cognizant are visiting. But some top-notch MNCs like Oracle, Amazon, and Microsoft also come here. Many students got internships in our batch in textile companies like Raymond, Arvind Textile, etc.
Infrastructure: They give us meals two times a day in our hostel. We have a long process of hostel registration application, which we first fill up in the secretary office in the technology campus, then in the Raja Bazar campus, then in the College Street campus. The main criteria to get a hostel is that you must decide within the limit radius from your location to the campus, like in our case. It is 60 km from the college campus to your home location. If you don't get a college hostel by any chance for just because of the reason of location distance, you must contact nearby just outside our college campus in Salt Lake; a big PG is there.
Faculty: Mostly teachers are from either IIT graduates or foreign institutes. They teach us programming with cutting-edge technologies in the computer lab that makes us industry-ready mostly. Semester exam questions mostly come from previous year questions and college lectures. So, questions are mostly common, but professors give us marks very strictly. So, getting marks is the tough task here.
Other: I chose this course as it is a professional course and opens up doors about cutting-edge technologies and great packages in MNCs. Sadly, no other extracurricular activities are there on our campus; we are more focused on placement & higher research studies.

Not happy with the placements and faculty, otherwise, it was a beautiful stay in my college.
Placements: Out of 40 students, 24 students were placed. The companies that came are ITC, Haldia Petrochemical, Berger Paints, and Woods. The average package is 3.6 LPA. Usually, the jobs were in process engineering or as onsite engineers. Most students got internships in IOCL, IFFCO, Berger Paints, and HPCL.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is not available on the campus. Labs are fully equipped with equipment, and classrooms have AC and projectors. The library has every book and journal that is available. Hostels are available, and canteen food is also okay and cheap. Medical facilities are available and free of cost for students.
Faculty: Teachers are mostly overqualified and usually arrogant. The teaching quality is okay but mostly based on notes. The curriculum is a bit outdated and not on par with current industry knowledge. Semester exams are usually easy, and the pass percentage is approximately 75%. The students are usually industry-ready as they are geniuses and not due to faculty.
Other: I chose this course and college as it was near my home and also I wanted to study chemical engineering. The curriculum and placement should be better. There is no social life, and no fests or events are held currently.

Completing B.Tech from Calcutta University upholds its legacy and enhances alumni prestige.
Placements: The University of Calcutta has industrial collaborations with companies like TCS, Business Brio, NASSCOM, and IXIA Technologies. The average salary package is 10 LPA. Most students opt for higher studies and research facilities.
Infrastructure: The University of Calcutta has a very good hostel facility. The university canteen serves food at very affordable prices. The campus is full of greenery, and there is a KC ground nearby where students can play cricket, football, badminton, and other sports. The university also has a student aid fund of about INR 1 lakh. In addition, there are sports clubs, a debate club, and a robotics club.
Faculty: The faculty members were very helpful and provided us with their best knowledge. They guided us and always cleared our doubts. The semester exams were moderate to hard, and the passing percentage was above 90%. The students got practical knowledge about the industry and were well prepared for their future jobs.

    Faculty members deserve respect.
Placements: Placement in our college is good. Starting in the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placement. In my specialization (Ceramic Engineering), OCL India Private, Maithan Ceramic Limited, Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited, RHI India Private Limited, etc., visited our campus. The average package is 3.4L - 6L per annum. In my specialization, above 90% of students getting placement go to M.Tech according to 2018, because 2019 had some disturbance due to the COVID pandemic. After graduating from college, my first preference is a job, and otherwise, M.Tech is also a good option.
Infrastructure: Hostel rooms are really too big; each room has three students, including seniors and juniors, and there is no problem with room size. Electricity, purified water facilities, and wi-fi are there. Meal quality is very good; you can feel at home with the food, including breakfast (6 a.m.), lunch (starting at 9:30 a.m.), tiffin (4 p.m.), and dinner (beginning at 8:30 p.m.). On the menu, fish, chicken, eggs, vegetables, etc., are available. The registration process is very simple. First, you fill out the form provided by the campus, read the rules, and have them signed by the guardian, HOD, and secretary. Then, submit it to your main campus. Don't worry, details are also provided by the faculty, and you can ask your faculty, senior, or friend. After selection, some documents are needed for your domicile. Hostels are provided for those who are above 60 km from home to college. But before admission, you can rent a room. When you are in the 1st year of Salt Lake or teaching campus at the University of Calcutta, go to Chingrighata (the local area) for PG.
Faculty: In this department, there are 10 faculty members, including the HOD, professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and guest teachers. All faculty members are highly qualified (PhD.), and their teaching method is very easy to understand, and you can ask anything by direct call, go to the faculty, etc. Exams are conducted semester-wise: 1 year has two semesters totaling 8 semesters, and each semester has an internal exam. You can focus on both to pass the exam.
Other: Every year, the annual fest is conducted by all teachers and students, and they are all present at this program. Also, college freshmen and farewell events, along with occasional programs, happen.
