at MAKAUT, Salt Lake City

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech must have a valid score in WBJEE. Those willing to get admission in the second year must appear for JELET (for Lateral Entry). In addition to this, MAKAUT also conducts JEMAT for admission to MBA and Maharashtra courses. Moreover, the university also accepts a few more state/ national-level exams for admission which include WBJEE. PGET, UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET for admission to other UG, PG and doctoral-level programmes.

The fees for B.Tech at MAKAUT ranges between INR 24 K - 39.6 INR Lacs. The duration of B.Tech programme is for three-four years. Also, candidates need to be eligible for MAKAUT admissions. The eligibility criteria for admissions is that candidate should have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 35-60 % aggregate. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the official website.

MAKAUT offers BTech programme across two specialisations at the university campus. However, there are more than 20 BTech specialisations available at the affiliated colleges of MAKAUT. Some of the affiliated Engineering colleges under MAKAUT include Asansol Engineering College, NSHM Institute of Engineering and Technology, among others. 

The total tuition fee for BTech at MAKAUT ranges between INR 24,000 and INR 39.6 lakh. However, this fee is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. Additionally, the fee mentioned shows the fee range for courses offered by the university and its affiliated colleges. MAKAUT offers the four-year BE/ BTech programme across two specialisations at its campus. However, there are more than 70 affiliated colleges of MAKAUT that offer BTech programmes across more than 20 specialisations.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) is a public university located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was established in 1998 by the West Bengal Government. MAKAUT provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, and allied sciences. MAKAUT is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

MAKAUT has a good infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories, libraries, and hostels. The university has a good placement record and the highest package offered during placements 2022 was INR 44 LPA.

MAKAUT is a premier public university located in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education  (AICTE), as well as accredited by the NAAC. Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology offers a multiplicity of programs through over 200 affiliated colleges. As oer the NIRF 2024 report, MAKAUT Kolkata is ranked at the band of #101-150.

MAKAUT University accepts both merit and entrance based exam scores. The university conducts CET exam in June for admission to courses such as BSc, MSc, BBA and BCA courses. MAKAUT conducts JEMAT for admission to MBA and MHA courses. It also accepts a few other state/ national-level entrance exams such as WBJEE, PGET,  UGC NET  (including JRF)/ CSIR NET for admission to UG, PG and doctoral-level programmes.
