By passing the National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009, the Assam government established the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA). It's one of India's autonomous law schools. In 2021 the institute was ranked 20 among the law universities by NIRF. The NLUJAA offers a one-year degree curriculum in LLM and a five-year integrated course in BA-LLB (Hons). A PhD in law is also offered by the university. The 60-acre, lush, verdant campus is located outside of Guwahati in the Amingaon neighbourhood. The academic and administrative buildings, as well as the dorms for boys and girls, are located on campus.

Taking admission in the BA LLB (Hons) course at NLU Assam is considered a great option. The university is well-known and reputed for the Law programmes offered. Candidates must appear for the CLAT exam for admission in the university. 

For admission to one-year LLM at NLU Assam, the CLAT test will be conducted on Dec 3, 2023. Aspirants of NLU Assam are required to appear for the exam in offline pen-paper mode at the allotted test centres. Candidates can complete the CLAT registration 2024 until Nov 3, 2023 in online mode.
