As per the IIIT Allahabad cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for BTech ranged between 5924 and 9558, among which Information Technology was the most competitive specialisation. The National Institute of Technology Durgapur (also known as NIT Durgapur) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960. The college is rated 4.1/5 in the Value for Money. For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering was 36281 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. NIT Durgapur does not provide a BSc programme, but an Integrated BSc + MSc programme in Chemistry. The duration of the programme is five years. It leads to a dual-degree, i.e. a BSc and an MSc degree in Chemistry. NITD has an intake of 19 students for the five-year programme. Admission to the programme is based on JEE (Main) ranks and seats are allocated through JoSAA/CSAB counselling.

NIT Durgapur admissions for MTech is based on GATE score. The institute offers seats under Sponsored and Self-Sponsored Category. After qualifying GATE, candidates are required to come for CCMT Counselling. GATE cutoffs are released online, aspirants with score equal or above cutoff, become eligible for counselling. NIT Durgapur offers admission to M.Tech on the basis of CCMT scores. The cutoff ranks for the General AI category candidates varied between 350 and 562. Therefore, for the candidates belonging to the General AI category, it is very difficult to get admission to the college for MTech. 

For candidates belonging to the OBC AI category, the cutoff ranks varied between 309 and 533. Thus, for OBC AI category candidates, getting admission to the college with 300 ranks is difficult. 

For other categories, such as SC, ST and PWD category candidates, admission at 300 is easier due to a lenient cutoff than for other categories.
