Overall, it has good infrastructure, nice professors, and improving placements each year.

Placements: Approximately 80% of students from the CSE course get placed. The highest package offered is 80 LPA. The lowest package offered is less than 6 LPA. The average package offered is 17 LPA. 60% of students got internships in the 3rd year. Most students got 6-month internships, then FTE or PPO. Many students got the SWE role in the IT companies. Top product-based companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and JPMC visit the college each year. Other than this, a few startups visited the college this year. Overall, it is good for CS placements.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available all over the college. CS labs are good. The new academic building is modern. There is a large library building which has the most modern facilities. 1st year hostel is very good. But from the 2nd to the final year, its quality degrades. There will be 3 people in a single room. Rooms are quite large. For PhD and M.Tech students only, there are single rooms.

Faculty: The course curriculum of the CSE course is decent. Most companies ask questions from our CSE core subjects. So it is relevant. But in 1st year, it is filled with useless subjects. Some teachers go out of the curriculum and teach what is relevant. Some teachers are boring, like if we can understand what they taught, then it is good, or else it is not. Especially in the Electrical department, teachers are very strict like old school. Their teaching style is superb. They will teach better than the top NPTEL IIT teachers.

Is NIT Durgapur a good college?

Placements: I don't know the exact numbers, but placements in ECE and CSE are very good. Maximum placements are offered by Apple with a package of 80 LPA. I don't keep track of the lowest. Most students get placements and internships. Many students who are not placed are not employable. If students keep studying and grinding, then they will get a decent job. If students don't work hard, then they don't get anything.

Infrastructure: Facilities available in the college are okay. I have not faced any issue with college infrastructure except the fact that the Jio network is bad here. Hostels are average. It is averagely clean with average to bad Wi-Fi. Water is always available. But the mess is super bad and unhygienic. It starts well, and by the end of the semester, the food is incredible.

Faculty: Many teachers are good, helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Most of them also respond outside of classes, like on WhatsApp. The course has been updated in all NITs in 2023, and the current curriculum is good. For example, the CS curriculum includes AI, machine learning, and stuff. The semester exams' difficulty level is average.

Other: If students get a good branch, then they can choose this college. I am not saying our college is bad for other branches, but I do not have knowledge about other courses. We can also change the branch, its 50% JEE rank and 50% our CGPA (CGPA must be above or something).

Campus life is very vibrant due to various events and festivals.

Placements: In computer Science and engineering, there used to be a good percentage of placements. In 2024-25, 87% of CSE students got placed. The average package of CSE students stood at Rs. 21.45 LPA in 2024. The highest package overall reached is Rs. 80 LPA. Over 200+ companies participate in on-campus placement. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Uber. Internship provided by Microsoft and Amazon offers a stipend of between Rs. 50,000 and 1,25,000.

Infrastructure: There are two academics building commonly known as the MAB (Main Academics Building) and NAB (New Academics Building). The NAB has a well-structured classroom which can accommodate up to 150-300 students. It contains 3 green boards, a projector, whiteboards, a sound system, and AC. The quality of food is good. There is a variety in everyday meals. The hostel is cleaned regularly, and the washrooms are in good condition. The medical unit works in very good pace, always available. There is a basketball court, an indoor badminton and table tennis area available. Kho-kho team, football team, cricket team, and athletic members are there.

Faculty: Faculty members are extremely educated and teach using both chalkboard and a projector. There are class assessments, projects and practicals. The course curriculum is kind of updated, including AI and machine learning. It makes students industry-ready. 75% attendance is compulsory. The toughness of semester exams depends on the subject. Few subjects are moderate few are tough. 35 out of 100 marks in each subject is considered to be passed.

Other: NIT Durgapur has so many clubs to work on skills and hobbies. There are two major festivals, Aarohan and Recstacy. Here, people are kind of supportive. NIT Durgapur are invited by various institutes for cultural performances. We have a music club, dance club, literacy club, entertainment club, tech club, entrepreneurship cell, robotics cell, and photography and art club. We also have a gym in the girls' hostel and a common gym on campus.

Great placement opportunities, experienced faculty members. Overall, a decent NIT.

Placements: At National Institute of Technology Durgapur, the 2024–25 B. Tech batch recorded an overall placement rate of 88 percent, with the highest package reaching 82 LPA (offered by Airbus), an average package of around 14–16 LPA, and the lowest around 5–6 LPA. Top recruiters included Airbus, Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, and Tata Steel. Around 70–75 percent of students secured internships in companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, ISRO, DRDO, and Deloitte. Prominent roles offered included software development engineer (SDE), data analyst, product engineer, core engineering profiles, consulting analyst, and research intern positions.

Infrastructure: The department infrastructure at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur includes well-furnished classrooms, functional laboratories, and access to the central library with adequate academic resources.
