 To get admission to MCA course at NIT Trichy, students must be graduated with minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in BSc/ BSc (Hons)/ BCA/ BIT with Mathematics/Statistics/Equivalent subject as one of the subjects. Students who are graduated with BE/B Tech or equivalent from a recognised University can also apply for this course. However, a five percent of relaxation is give to candidates who belong from SC/ ST categories. These candidates are required to obtain minimum of 55% or 6.0 CGPA in their respective graduation. NIT Trichy does not conduct any in-house entrance test. It grant admission to the courses on the basis of merit in national-level examinations. The accepted entrance examinations are JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT, and NIMCET. Only the candidates with a valid score in the accepted exams as per the applied course are admitted.

NIT Trichy offers a two-year MSc course across four specialisations. This course is taught through the Department of Computer Applications, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. NIT Trichy accepts admission to MSc through the IIT JAM entrance exam, which is conducted by IITs for selection to MSc courses. The admission process gets completed with the CCMN Counselling round. Candidates must keep a close eye on the CCMN Counselling and prepare accordingly.

NIT Trichy admission to the PGDM courses like MBA are conducted through CAT aggregate percentile. For getting into a NIT Trichy, One need to score a minimum overall CAT percentile of 80, according to NIT Trichy CAT cutoff 2023.

At the postgraduate level, NIT Trichy provides two-year MTech, MBA, MCA, and various other courses to students. The MCA program at NIT, Trichy is good. NIT Tiruchirappalli is ranked 701-710 by QS World University Rankings 2025. It is one of the top-ranked universities present in India. MCA students get great placement opportunities in top companies like Google, Infosys, Facebook, Oracle, and others. The university infrastructure is also very good. For MCA admission, candidates must qualify for the NIMCET, and for that, candidates must study according to the the NIMCET exam pattern. 

SPA Delhi: As per the NIRF report 2023, the median package offered to B.Arch students was INR 6 LPA, respectively. About, 17 B. Plan 65 B.Arch and 145 PG (2-year) students were placed during SPA Delhi placements 2022. NIT Trichy: As per the NIRF report, the median package offered to B.Arch students is INR 6 LPA. NIT Calicut: The average package offered during NIT Calicut B.Arch placements 2022 was INR 7.08 LPA (as per unofficial sources). From the above data, it can be observed that all three institutes have somewhat similar placement scenarios.

In order to get admission to MCA course at NIT Trichy, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates are required to secure minimum of 60% aggregate in a three-year graduation course. Admission to MCA at NIT Trichy is entirely entrance-based. Eligible candidtaes are required to appear for NIMCET entrance exam, which is a common entrance exam for MCA in all the NITS. It'smandatory for every aspirant to qualify the exam with a valid rank.
