Admissions to NEHU Shillong is offered on the basis of merit and valid scores of accepted entrance exams. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate in Class 12 for admission to UG level courses. Whereas, for PG level courses, candidates must secure valid scores in accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main, CUET UG/PG, CAT/MAT/AIMA and other national-level examinations suitable for the chosen course.  

NEHU Shillong offers MD and MS courses based on NEET PG scores. In 2024, the NEHU Shillong NEET PG cutoff stood between 451 and 95209 for the General AI category candidates. While analysing the cutoffs, the programme having the highest demand among candidates was MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy. In contrast to it, the programme having the lowest demand was MD in Anatomy. 

As per the admission guidelines of NEHU Shillong, admission to BTech courses is solely based on JEE Mains scores. Candidates must first qualify for the JEE Mains entrance examination. Additionally, the number of seats available for the BTech lateral entry programmes is 10, while the four-year BTech programme offers 20 seats. Therefore, securing a seat in the programme is quite competitive. Students can review the cutoff trends here, to better understand the difficulty of the admission process. Furthermore, the total fees for the BTech programme at NEHU Shillong range between INR 5,000 and INR 6,700. Considering this low fee structure, gaining admission to such a reputable institution is tough.

NEHU admissions generally begin in May every year. Admission to most of the courses at the university is entrance exam/merit-based. Candidates, however, for all courses are required to meet minimum eligibility criteria to get shortlisted for any and every course offered by NEHU. Yes, NEHU Shillong does offer a BTech course for the duration of over four years, divided into eight semesters, and offered in full-time mode. The eligibility criteria to get admission into BTech course is candidates must complete their Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75%. Additionally, the university also offers BTech lateral entry courses in some of the specialsiations. The entrance exam accepted by the university to get admission into BTech courses is they must have secured valid scores in JEE Mains.
