Panjab University conducts PUTHAT for admission to BHMCT and BTTM programmes. Starting with the application, interested candidates are required to go through the course-specific entrance exam followed by other selection rounds (PUTHAT in this case). After the selection rounds are over, course-wise merit lists are released on the official website with the names of the shortlisted candidates.  For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

Over the past three years of drives, an improving trend was observed in the LLB placement percentage. On the contrary, a declining trend was observed in the LLM placement rate. Refer to the below table for the Department of Law Panjab University placement rate trends:

The highest package offered to the Engineering batch 2025 was INR 24 LPA. On the other hand, the highest salary offered to the MBA students during Punjab University placements 2025 was also INR 24 LPA.  

UIET is ranked among the best 30 engineering colleges in India. It has a very high placement percentage with an average pay package of INR 8.72 LPA in the year 2023. It was even the highest ranked Indian Institute for a while according to a survey by Times Higher education. Should have passed FA/F.Sc./ A level or equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% marks. Should have passed the Law Admission Test (LAT) with 50% passing marks and with a validity date for admission. Must have appeared in the PU Admission Test conducted by Punjab University. To be eligible for the three-year PU LLB course, a candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised university with at least 45% aggregate marks or 40% marks for SC/ST candidates.

Panjab6 University cutoff 2023 for the BTech and the BArch courses is based on JEE Main ranks followed by the JAC Chandigarh Counselling. As per the Panjab University JEE Mains cutoff, the last round closing rank ranged between 2067 and 743884, among which Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) was the most competitive specialisation. The Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks for BArch were the same at 2067 for the General Home State Quota students. During the Panjab University cutoff 2022, the Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks were 4306 and 2067, respectively for the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) course.
