M.A. in Public Administration (TM) 

at Madras University, Chepauk

The Madras University MA application form can be filled out online. While filling out the form, students are required to upload scanned copies of certain documents. Below are the required documents:

• Class 10 and12 marksheets
• UG degree
• UG marksheets
• Transfer certificate
• Migration certificate
• Income certificate (applicable for candidates seeking admission via EWS category)
• Caste certificate (if required)

For admission to Madras University MA courses, candidates are required to submit the application form. To apply, follow these steps:

1. Visit the online admission portal.

2. Register by providing the required documents.

3. Login with credentials generated in the earlier step.

4. Fill out the required details, upload documents, and pay the application fee of INR 200.

5. Preview and submit.

The total tuition fee to pursue MA from Madras University ranges from INR 2,100 to INR 2 lakh. There is a range in the fee because the fee for each specialisation can be different from the other. This fee only includes the tuition fee for a two-year course duration.

The MA eligibility criteria  at Madras University, differs on the choice of specialisation. Check below to know the course-wise eligibility requirements:

• MA Political Science:  BA Political Science or any other degree recognised by the University of Madras.
• MA Economics: BA Economics/BCom/BA Corporate Secretaryship/ Mathematics/BSc Statistics.
• MA Journalism & Mass Communication:  Preference for candidates with a media background and experience of not less than three years.
• MA English: BA English or BA & BSc with Part-II English.

Madras University placement rate has not been published, but in 2024, 483 students were placed out of 1298 students in PG -2year program. While only 7 students out of 24 secured placements in PG -3year program.

Madras University admissions are both merit and entrance-based. For admission to courses such as MBA, MCA, BArch, etc., the university accepts scores of entrance exams such as TANCET and NATA. Further, admission to courses such as MA, MSc, MCom, etc., admissions are offered based on scores of last qualifying exam.
