BHU MSc Admission 2021

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) offers various courses at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. At the PG level the University offers MSc programme. Admission to MSc is offered on the basis of merit and students seeking admission need to appear in a Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET) conducted by the University.

Applicants can apply online and the application fee required for this programmes is Rs 600 (General/ OBC Category) or Rs 300 (SC/ST Category). Candidates selected based on merit have to undergo a counseling procedure with the relevant University department.

BHU MSc Admission 2021

MSc programme offered by BHU is available in multiple specialisations. Selection takes place on the basis of performance in the PET. The concerned head of the department/coordinator will issue electronic call letters to the candidates for counseling. Students need to attend the counseling procedure for admission after the announcement of the merit lists.

The minimum eligibility criteria for all the MSc programmes offered by the University are tabulated below:

Specialisation Eligibility Criteria
Physics BSc (Hons)/ BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc course). The subject in which admission is sought must be Hons subject at BSc (Hons) level/ a subject studied in all the three years at the graduate level. However, for admission to MSc in Botany/ Zoology, a candidate must also have offered Chemistry as one of the subjects at the Graduate level. Similarly, for admission to MSc in Statistics, a candidate must also have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Graduate level.

Biochemistry BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry/ BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern with Biochemistry as a subject in all the three years of graduation course, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in the aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of B.Sc. Course), OR BSc (Hons) in Chemistry/ Botany/ Zoology or BSc (Life Science/Bioscience) under 10+2+3 pattern with Chemistry as a subject studied for at least two years of BSc course securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc course)
Environmental Sciences (Environmental Technology) BSc (Hons)/ BSc (10+2+3) or BSc (Ag) or MBBS or BE/BTech. with a minimum of 50% aggregate (equivalent GPA) with a minimum of 50% at Class 10 and Class 12 level
Applied Microbiology BSc (Hons)/ BSc with 10+2+3 pattern with any two of the following subjects: Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Industrial Microbiology, Life Science, Environmental Sciences & Secured at least 50% aggregate in the concerned degree.
Agroforestry Passed four-year BSc (Ag)/ BSc (Bio)/ BSc Environmental Science/BSc (Horticulture)/BSc Agroforestry/BSc Forestry of the University; and obtained at least 50% aggregate under the traditional system or an OGPA of 2.5/4, 3.5/5, 4.0/6 & 6.0/10 under the Course Credit System
Soil Science – Soil and Water Conservation Passed four Year B.Sc. (Ag.) Examination of the University; and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate under the traditional system or an OGPA of 2.5/4, 3.5/5, 4.0/6 & 6.0/10 under the Course Credit System.
Environmental science A minimum of 50% aggregate (equivalent GPA) in BSc (Hons)/BSc (10+2+3) as well as at Class 10 and Class 12 levels
Petroleum Geosciences BSc (Hons) Geology or BSc under 10+2+3 pattern with Physics and Mathematics at HSC level, Geology must be a subject in all the three years of BSc with a minimum of 50% aggregate at the graduate level
Geophysics BSc (Hons)/ BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc course) with Physics, Mathematics. and one more Science subject
Bioinformatics Class 12 with Science and bachelors degree under at least 10+2+3 pattern in Science/Engineering/Technology/ Agriculture/Medicine/Veterinary Science/Pharmaceutics with at least 50% aggregate
Statistics and Computing Any BSc/BA graduate under 10+2+3 securing a minimum of 50% aggregate and studied Statistics and Mathematics as subjects at BSc/BA level
Computational Science and Applications in Signal Processing BSc (Hons)/BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing 50% pattern securing 50% aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc (Hons). Candidate must have Physics/Electronics/ Computer Science as one of the subjects at the UG level with Mathematics/Statistics, or passed BTech/BE (in Electronics/ Communication/ Electrical/ Computer/ Instrumentation) securing a minimum of 65% aggregate
Forensic Science Any science graduate under 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate and having Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, Forensic Science, Geography, Geophysics and Geology as the main subject (a combination of at least three of the subjects) at the Undergraduate level, or any graduate having MBBS/ BDS/B.Tech/ BE/ BPharm degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
Geology BSc (Hons)/ BSc. under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc course). Geology must be Hons subject at BSc (Hons) level/a subject studied in all the three parts at the graduate level.
Agricultural Economics Candidates with a four-year BSc (Ag) degree with a credit-based course programme under the guidelines of ICAR or an equivalent examination

Entomology & Agricultural Zoology
Extension Education
Genetics & Plant Breeding
Horticulture
Mycology & Plant Pathology
Plant Physiology
Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry
Health Science BSc (Hons)/ BSc under at least 10+2+3 pattern securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of BSc). Statistics must be Hons subject at BSc (Hons) level/a subject studied in all the three parts at BSc level.

BHU Application Process 2021

BHU application process 2021 is conducted in online mode through the official website of the University. For successful application submission, candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs 600 (General/ OBC Category)/ Rs 300 (SC/ST Category). Registered applicants selected based on merit have to undergo a counseling procedure with the relevant University department. The application process consists of the following steps:
