KVPY is a national-level scholarship programme which is conducted every year at centres across the country. Administered by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), it promotes and encourages highly-driven students to opt for research careers in basic science courses.
Clearing the KVPY exam is not easy and requires good preparation and hard work. Students must be thorough with the entire KVPY syllabus and KVPY exam pattern and start with their preparations as early as possible.

Students must appear for the scholarship programme for the numerous benefits it offers, of which some are listed below:

  • Admission into top institutes

After clearing the KVPY examination, students can get direct admission into top institutes like IISc and the various IISERs. If students want to be a part of IISc, they must appear for KVPY as the cutoff for admissions into IISc JEE Mains/JEE Advanced/ NEET is really high.

  • Scholarship

After clearing KVPY, one will receive a scholarship (monthly and yearly) during the basic science course (3 years or 5 years integrated course). For SA/SX/SB- During 1st to 3rd years of - BSc/BS/BStat/BMath / Integrated MSc /MS, candidates get an Annual Contingency Grant of Rs 20,000 (monthly Rs 5,000), while for SA/SX/SB- During MSc /4th to 5th years of Integrated MSc /MS/MMath/MStat, an Annual Contingency Grant of Rs 28,000 (Monthly Rs 7,000) is awarded.

  • Helps to crack JEE/NEET

For JEE aspirants, the KVPY exam is a good opportunity to test their concepts, understanding and application of logic. These are the main aspects which a candidate needs to work on while preparing forJEE Main and JEE Advanced. NEET aspirants can test their PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) concepts through the KVPY exam.

  • Free access to National Libraries across India

A KVPY scholar is allowed free entry to all National libraries in the country.

  • Research Projects

Every individual who qualifies KVPY is required to do a research project under the guidance of a scientist or scholar specialising in respective fields. Being a part of such projects enhances the candidates' knowledge and motivates them to think independently. Participation in such projects would help in getting a successful and flourishing career in science and engineering.

  • Opens New Doors

KVPY scholars have the opportunity to attend various seminars and summer camps. These summer programs are organised separately for different streams. Candidates spend one to two weeks in scientific institutions under the experts' guidance in different fields of science, engineering/ medicine. They get to watch scientists at work, interact with them and visit nearby research laboratories and institutions.

Yes, IISc Bangalore does offer M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering. IISc Bangalore offer M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering through Division of Mechanical Sciences. There are a total of 20 seats offered for MTech in Aerospace Engineering and you need to appear for GATE for being eligible to this course.

IISc Bangalore offers admission to candidates based on their scores in the entrance exam. Candidates are selected for BSc via JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IISER Aptitude Test, NEET or KVPY scores. The institute also considers scores in GATE, IIT JAM, etc. for admission to other courses-BTech, MSc, MTech.

IISER does not conduct the counselling or admission process for IISc Bangalore and IIT Madras through the IAT scores. These institutes conduct their own counselling or admission process. IISER counselling process is conducted only for seven IISER institutes located across India.
