I have always been curious. Since my early school days, I was curious to understand how various computer applications work, what is the fundamental behind various computer-operated machines. Little did I know about a career in such a domain at that time.

Every student has to take two important career-related decisions in their life. One is choosing the stream after Class 10 exams, which lays the basis of one’s career and the second is choosing the right college for graduation. When the question about choosing a career arose, how could I not choose Computer Engineering?

Immediately after Class 12 exams, I started looking for good Computer Science and Engineering colleges in Chennai. After detailed research on the internet, I came across the Chennai Institute of Technology that offers Computer Science and Engineering. I followed the admission process and finally secured a seat in the institute. While studying in the institute, I realised the increasing demand of industry-ready professionals. This made me think about the fact that what additional skill do I have then rest of thousands of students pursuing the same course and will graduate in the same year. That was the time I seek the help of my faculty members who guided me to develop programmes and gain some experience in that. Also, they suggested me to participate in various tech competitions held in the campus regularly. The industry and product development experience is important to outshine in the crowd. I followed the guidance of my faculty members and began to participate in various competitions that also acted as an eye-opener experience for me. Listening to the journey of industry professionals, experts and learning about emerging technologies from them is a great experience. These project-based competitions paved the way for me to learn and compete with domain experts from different universities and even from industries. With the technological evolvement, there is an increasing need to upgrade our knowledge

The industry and product development experience is important to outshine in the crowd. I followed the guidance of my faculty members and began to participate in various competitions that also acted as an eye-opener experience for me.

In the subsequent years of our graduation life, we formed a team of 16 members who all decided to build a start-up. We wanted to create a mobile laundry system. The prototype was successfully built with the guidance of our faculty members and industry experts and soon we applied for MSME fund grant with the help of our Institute’s Chairman.

We did not realise how fast we were moving towards the final year of our graduation. As the placements season began we were all excited and yet nervous on the other hand. I appeared in the interview rounds of many companies for experience and finally got through with TCS and IBM both. Basis my programme designing experience and active participation in various tech competitions across the country and industry-based learning experience facilitated to us by our faculty members, I was also awarded an offer letter from L&T Technology Services. Now, being in the final year I have offer letters from three big leaders of the IT industry. When I look back at the journey of four years, I feel proud of all the efforts that I put in to achieve all this. It is important to set up short term and long term goals for ourselves as they act as benchmarks and motivate us to pus our limits. CIT has been instrumental in this challenging and yet learning experience of my life.
