Sastra Deemed University has about 16 separate hostels to accommodate 4,000 boys and 2,600 girls. 

Sastra Deemed University's objective is to become a world-class varsity that motivates all learners in relevant education and development by providing excellent education to everyone. 

Hostel and Food Facilities 

Sastra Deemed University provides a vast and pleasant hostel atmosphere for the students. It has about 16 separate hostels for 4,000 boys and 2,600 girls. For these 6,600 students, there are ten men's and six women's hostels. Types of hostel room accommodation are as follows:

  • A single student in a room, 
  • Two students in a room, 
  • Three students in a room
  • Four students in a room 
  • Five students in a room
  • Six students in a room 

These hostels are located inside the campus. The approximate distance from the academic blocks to the girls’ and boys’ hostels is about 200 metres. Hostels are located within the campus in various locations. Students can move to hostels and academic blocks on foot or by cycle. Hostel and mess facilities are not provided for all the students studying at SASTRA Deemed University. These amenities are exclusively available to students who stay at the hostel. Hostel fees range from INR 8,000 to 24,000 based on the hostel room accommodation chosen by the student. 

Q:   What are the facilities that are offered at SASTRA University?

Sastra’s hostel provisions include well-equipped fitness and indoor and outdoor sports facilities for both boys and girls. This university is provided with a hospital including 10 beds on the campus with a pharmacy as well as specialised doctors for an emergency. In the university, there are canteens, snack stalls and food courts. The facilities available make students feel more comfortable staying and studying. A perfect setting for psychological enrichment and standard of living improvements is also offered. 

Sastra Deemed University is a pure vegetarian campus and provides vegetarian food only. A well-balanced vegetarian food is available in all hostels. In addition to South Indian delights, students studying from the northern regions are also provided with North Indian cuisine. Food is even served until 1 a.m. during the assessments. Other amenities include unlimited Wi-Fi, a coffee shop, a juice stall, general stores, ATMs and laundry. A separate gym with sophisticated exercise equipment, volleyball, badminton, and tennis courts, and also a 200-meter running track designed with distinctive stones, are available to female students in their hostels. A post office, ATMs, courier services, power substations, generator plants, a temple, Goshala with 150 cows and a Veterinary doctor, a medicinal garden, water and sewage purification unit and a biofuel plant are all provided at the University.

Student Engagement Activities

There are various events and activities that engage the students. The events and activities are Daksh, Kuruksastra, NCC, NSS & various club activities.

Sastra Deemed University's worldwide techno-management festival, Daksh is an annual festival that includes a variety of events involving all engineering specialities. It aims to be not only educational but also exciting for each individual as it strives to go beyond academics in terms of knowledge. Daksh provides students from all over the world with the chance to demonstrate their innovative talents. These can be done by participating in a variety of interesting activities, seminars, motivational speeches and social responsibility initiatives. This event takes place over the course of three days in February.

Kuruksastra (KS) is Southern India's largest contest to promote known talent and showcase hidden gems. KS, Sastra's cultural fest offers a unique blend of content, style, elegance, and vibrancy in the form of arts, music, literary events in English, Tamil, and Hindi, and dance. Top institutions from across India compete for the title of overall champion at KS. KS's highlight is the Pro show that includes renowned artists, who can truly set the stage blazing. Stars such as Shankar Mahadevan, Benny Dayal, Sid Sriram, Crazy Mohan, and Naresh Iyer, to list a few, always have left enthusiastic audiences desiring extra performances. This event takes place at the end of February.

Sastra Deemed University provides NSS and NCC training to the students. Students for this are selected based on their performance in the physical test. The test is conducted by trained NCC & NSS professors. 

SASTRA Deemed University's various student clubs, such as the Auto Club, Literary Club, Oratory and Debating Club, Fine Arts Club, JAM Club, Quiz Club, and others put efforts in bringing out students' hidden skills through constant practice.

With 95.5% in IPE and 90 percentile in JEE Mains, your combined score is strong enough for SASTRA’s ECE cutoff in recent years.

Past admissions show students with slightly lower marks have still got ECE.

Packages range from INR 27 LPA to INR 45 LPA

Usually get hired from Microsoft, Paypal, Amazon, Wipro, Infosys, etc.
