DU JAT 2018 exam analysis: Overall, the paper was easy

Delhi University’s Joint Admission Test (DU JAT) for enrolment in its Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)/BBE and BFIA courses was held on June 22, 2018 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm (second slot). The exam, conducted online, had a total of 100 questions. Every question carried four marks, while there was negative marking (of 1 mark) for every incorrect answer. 

The questions were not divided into sections; and were jumbled up. However, they were broadly from the following four areas: General Awareness, General English, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Overall, the paper was an easy one. 

General Awareness

Unlike last year, most of the questions from this area were from static GK; and covered Sports, Literature, Science, Economics, History, etc. Only six questions dealt with Current Affairs.  Overall, the level of questions was easy.

General English

The questions from this area were some of the easiest in the paper. There was just one passage based on History (Athens vs Persia) followed by 5 questions which were directly from the passage. Questions on Vocabulary dominated, with 4 questions each on correct meaning, antonyms, and spelling corrections. Most of the words were common that the students have come across often while reading. There were 8 questions from idioms and phrases, which were again every easy; and frequently encountered in day-to-day reading. With just one question on Fill-in-the-Blanks, these questions did not require any special effort; and could have been completed within 15-20 minutes.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning

The topics from which questions were asked in this area were Arrangement, Series, Coding-Decoding, Analogy, Direction, and Syllogism. The level of difficulty was easy.

Quantitative Aptitude

Overall, the questions were of moderate level of difficulty. The topics covered were Function, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Matrices, Sequence and Series, Probability, Statistics, Differentiation, Application of Derivatives, Trigonometry, Vectors, etc.

The admission process for MCA in DU -

Appear in the national entrance exam — CUET‑PG

As of recent years, DU PG admissions (including MCA) follow CUET‑PG. 
2. Register / fill DU's PG admission formAfter CUET‑PG results, apply using DU's PG admission portal; you'll need to choose MCA in application.
3. Shortlisting — based on CUET‑PG score & eligibilityAdmissions are based on merit: your CUET‑PG score + matching eligibility (math background + bachelor's degree + minimum marks).
4. Seat allotment / counselling / admission listDU publishes seat-allotment / merit-lists; if you get selected, you must accept the seat as per instructions. 
5. Document verification & fee paymentYou will need to submit original degree / mark‑sheets / math‑subject proof etc., and pay fees to confirm admission.
