EMAT 2026 exam and Personal Interview (PI) will be conducted in offline mode. Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) is conducted by IIM Kozhikode (IIM-K) for admission to two year Executive Post Graduate Program in Management in Kochi. Q:   How are marks distributed in EMAT exam?
A: 

As per the EMAT exam pattern, the marking are distributed as:

  • 20 marks for Logical Reasoning section
  • 20 marks for Numerical, data Interpretation
  • 20 marks for Verbal Ability

The maximum marks for EMAT 2026 exam is 60 marks. For every correct answer, candidates will get one mark and no mark will be deducted for wrong attempts.

Q:   Who conducts EMAT exam?
A: 

Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) is conducted by Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode for admission to Executive Management of Business Administration (EMBA). The examination is a in computer based mode, wherein candidates will have to report at the designated exam centre. EMAT exam is conducted for a duration of 60 minutes. Candidates must attempt 30 questions within the given time duration. No provision for extra time is applicable for students appearing for EMAT. The EMATquestion paper will be divided in three sections viz., Quantitative Aptitude & Numerical Ability,  Reasoning and General Intelligence, and General Management. Q:   Does EMAT has sectional time limit?
A: 

No, EMAT exam does not have sectional time limit to appear for the exam. However, students will be required to complete the exam in pre informed exam duration i.e, two hours and no extra time will be granted to the students under any circumstances. EMAT is a computer-based online exam the test screen will move from first section to the next section only when the candidate clicks the next button. Candidates have to be mindful of the on-screen timer and pre-decide the number of questions to solve in each section as there will be negative markings. It is not mandatory to solve all the questions in EMAT exam so candidates can devise a strategy to use the exam duration as per their strength and weakness. Candidates must reach the exam centre at least an hour prior to complete the frisking formalities at the EMAT exam centre.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the EMAT exam?
A: 

No, there is no negative marking for any wrong answer or not attenpted question in EMAT exam. As per the Executive Management Aptitude Test (EMAT) marking scheme for every correct answer candidate will get one mark and for no marks will be deducted for any wrong answers like other management entrance tests- CAT. There will be no negative marking for unattempted questions. As per the EMAT exam pattern, the question paper will consist of 60 Multiple Choice Questions, of one mark each. There will be no sectional time limit. Candidates can start answering from any section they are comfortable with. The EMAT exam is conducted for a duration of one hour.

Q:   Are there subjective-type questions in the EMAT exam?

No, the EMAT will not have subjective-type questions. EMAT is a computer based test inclusive of 30 multiple choice questions (MCQs) that candidates must answer in one hour. Each question will have four options, candidates will be required select the correct answer.
EMAT exam covers three sections
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Management & Reasoning
  • General Intelligence.
The EMAT exam is designed to assess a candidate's knowledge and skills in related fields. Topics often covered include the country of your choice of second language, Economics, Politics, Culture, Philosophy, Literature, and current affairs.
The EMAT exam is conducted offline. Candidates receive one mark for each correct answer and negative marking of 0.5 mark for each wrong answer.
