IIT Kharagpur BSc Eligibility & Highlights 2026
BSc at IIT Kharagpur is a four-year UG-level programme offered with six specialisations for students to choose from. IIT Kharagpur also offers a five-year Integrated MSc programme for students willing to pursue a PG integrated course. Under this programme, the university offers various specilaisations including Physics, Economics, Applied Geology, and more. Admission to both of these courses is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSAA counselling. In order to be eligible to apply for IIT Kharagpur BSc courses, candidates must have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1999. Five years’ age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1994.

IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Under this programme, at the end of the first year, interested students with a CGPA of 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for a written test and/or interview to check their suitability to enrol for PhD. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme. Students selected for PhD will have to complete the two-year academic requirements of MTech/ MCP programme before enrolment for PhD. For these students, the MTech/MCP and PhD degrees will be awarded together upon successful completion of PhD. The programme is open to students of all categories with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE, etc.) with a valid GATE score.
