BSc at IIT Madras is a four-year, full-time programme offered at the undergraduate level. STEP 1: IIT Madras BSc Application Process 2025
Candidates seeking admission to the BS degree in IIT Madras are required to fill out the application form for the entrance exams. A number of scholarships are offered to meritorious, SC, ST and, female students pursuing the BSc programme. Some of the scholarships are given by previous alumni of the institute while others are from Companies and the Government of India. STEP 1: Application Process
Fill out the JEE Main application form for admission to the BSc programme and IISER Aptitude Test application form for admission to the dual degree BS plus MS programme.
STEP 2: Selection Process
Admission to the BSc programme is offered in two modes, either via Regular entry or through an entrance exam.
- Admission via regular entry*:
- Qualifier Preparation: The qualifier process includes four weeks of coursework based on lecture videos, assignments, and live sessions that will be provided through online portal. Every week an assignment must be submitted for grading.
- Qualifier Exam: At the end of the four weeks, a qualifier exam will be conducted for eligible candidates.
- Admission via entrance exam:
Candidates must qualify and submit the score of current year JEE.
STEP 3: Counselling and Admission Confirmation
The institute then declares the merit list and the shortlisted candidates are called to appear for the counselling process who must then pay the IIT Madras BSc fees.

IIT Madras BSc admission dates have not been announced by the institute for the academic year 2026yet. However, the IISER Aptitude Test is usually held in June for the BS-MS dual degree programme, and the results for the IISER Aptitude Test will tentatively be declared in July.

No, one does not have to apply separately at IIT Madras website after JoSAA counselling. Direct admissions are possible in IIT Madras for some Diploma programmes. For other programmes such as UG and PG courses, direct admissions are not available. Students will have to appear for the entrance exam for admission to the available programmes.
