KNC: The Great College of DU.

Placements: My course is a BA Programme in History and Geography. Generally, this course doesn't offer many placement opportunities, as these are mainly theory subjects. However, one can secure placements in editorial sections, teaching positions, government internships, and especially geography students in the meteorological department. A student graduating with a BA from our college can expect an annual package of ₹3 to 4 lakhs on average.

Infrastructure: Our college provides good infrastructure for our course. For geography, there are adequate labs for practicals, equipped with smart boards and projectors. Classes are well-equipped, with each class featuring a projector and sufficient furniture. Our college library is good, with a wide range of books available and comfortable furniture. The library is a two-story building that can easily accommodate many students simultaneously. Our college also has 2 to 3 computer labs, and Wi-Fi is available in every lab and library. The only drawback is that the college doesn't have its own hostel; outstation students must live in PGs and flats. I myself used to live in a PG.

Faculty: The faculty at our college is good; they are highly qualified and experienced. Most of their teaching styles are liked by students, except for a few who just try to complete the syllabus without paying attention to whether students understand the material. However, these teachers make up only 10 to 20% of the faculty; most of them are good. The course curriculum is relevant, making students study subjects like history and geography. The semester exams are not very difficult; they are easy to moderate, and the passing percentage is 40% in our college.

Other: I chose this course because I have a keen interest in arts subjects like History and Geography, which will also help me with UPSC preparation. The best thing about my course is that it is very theoretical and interesting, and the faculty is excellent. One thing I dislike is that BA Honours students seem to be more valued, while BA Programme students are often neglected. People tend to think that BA Programme students are less qualified and have less knowledge than their honours counterparts. This bias in our college is something I don't like at all.

It has limited placements, no hostel facilities, and an average college experience.

Placements: The passing year will be 2027, and my course is a B.A. programme (his+geo). There is nothing as such, a highest or lowest package specifically in my course, that I am aware of. There are not many placements provided inour course. No idea about internships as well. I do not know the exact percentage of students placed, but it is not much, probably around 20-30%.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is overall decent. For classrooms, I wouldn't say they are in very bad condition, but they don't have ample chairs for students to sit. There are no hostel facilities available in our college. The food quality of the canteen is fine. The sports facilities are average.

Faculty: Teachers are quite knowledgeable and well-qualified. Also, they know their subjects well. The curriculum, however, revolves around a very tiring schedule for both teachers and especially students. The semester exams are moderate to difficult and can be passed easily with good preparation.

Other: I did this course of my choice. I am interested in both history and geography. I also scored very well in both. My course is a B.A. programme, so I want B.A. programme students to be treated with respect because I feel that B.A. programme students are not given much value. As I have seen, programme students are allowed 3 books from the library, and honours students are allowed 4 books. I feel that it should not be this way. Both students have to read them. Here, you can read them only based on the course.
