All about KGEC in one review.
Placements: 85% students placed in the Information Technology department this year. Overall, placement is 90%. TCS is the main hiring company, and almost all students are placed or go for higher studies. I would recommend this college. It is one of the top colleges in West Bengal.
Infrastructure: Our department has a separate building called Meghnad Saha Bhavan. All our facilities are well-maintained and the staff is well-educated. Our lab is also well-maintained, and we have good lab teachers. We enjoy our course, and our teachers are friendly. I prefer this.
Faculty: All our teachers are well-educated, and most of them have completed their Ph.D. degrees. They are very well-mannered. It is very helpful for performing at an industry level in whatever they teach. Semester exams are easy but complex. If you study, you might get great results.
Other: I love KGEC for their culture and clubs, especially our FEAT and Espektro.

One of the best government colleges in West Bengal.
Placements: Almost 80% students were placed in 2024. The highest package for information technology department is 40 LPA, and the average package is 8 LPA. The recruiting companies are Amazon, Groww, Tagmango, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys, etc. Some students got internships in companies like Tagmango, Pixbox AI, Siemens, Geeksforgeeks, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average. Labs are almost well equipped. Classrooms are moderate. Ethernet is available in the labs. The library is little bit outdated, but we have digital library.
Hostels are not good at all. The food is bad.
We have different playgrounds to play games like football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, etc.
Faculty: The teachers are extremely helpful. They all have multiple degrees, and everyone of them has expertise in their particular domains.
The course is industry-related. I personally think some subjects are backdated.
The semester is harder than average. The pass percentage is almost 90%.
Other: I was aiming for computer science and information technology courses because I want to be a game developer.
May be the labs could be better. They should give us more industry-related projects.
Our college holds a cultural fest named Espektro and a technical fest named Techtix.

The college placement and studies are good, and the fees are also less.
Placements: The maximum number of students is 45 in our batch. For IT, top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro, etc. About 85% of students got internships from our college. The highest package is around Rs. 80,000, and the lowest is Rs. 15,000. They also get internship practice for 3 months.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not good enough, as there are no Wi-Fi facilities. The washrooms and classrooms are dirty. Talking about the college, the hostel food is good, but the rooms and other places are very dirty and unhygienic. The library is really good, and you can get many varieties of authors' books, which is helpful. The facilities are not as good as those for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering students. The practical room is not that good, and they don't have adequate machines and equipment for practical.
Faculty: The courses are good, and the teachers are helpful to us, and they are also qualified.
Other: Placements are really good for IT and cherished students, as for other streams, I don't know more.

Absolutely satisfied with the college placements and seniors are like big brothers.
Placements: Placements are good as it is a government college and people came here after giving the WBJEE exam. The highest package as of now is 45 LPA and the lowest package is 3.35 LPA. College is at the top of West Bengal under WBJEE. So placement is quite good; no worries about placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Wi-Fi is available in hostels, labs and classrooms are good, and there is a big library in the college hostel. Food is also nice; there can be improvement in the food quality. There is a sports club in the college and a sports room in the hostel.
Faculty: I had a great experience at KGEC College, where I earned a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. The faculty were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality was excellent. The curriculum was relevant to the industry and made us industry-ready. The semester exams were moderately difficult, but fair. The college emphasized practical skills development, and we worked on numerous projects that helped us develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and collaboration skills. I appreciated the colleges focus on research and innovation, which was evident in various research projects and initiatives. The faculty were supportive, and the curriculum was well-structured. Overall, I highly recommend KGEC College to anyone interested in Computer Science. The college provided a well-rounded education that prepared us for a successful career. I'm grateful to have been a part of this institution and confident that it will continue to produce talented professionals.
Positives: Relevant curriculum, practical skills development, research focus, supportive faculty.
Other: I love to do engineering because I wanted to go into the IT sector. I am loving to code, and it is becoming my passion, which is why I chose the information technology department. Our college festival name is Espektro, which is one of the biggest festivals in West Bengal after IIT Kharagpur.

Good placements, ROI is great, below average infrastructure and campus life.
Placements: This year around 50% of the students across all the departments got placed with a total of more than 220 offers and more than 30 internships spread across over 50 companies. Around 20% of the students went for higher studies. The highest placement offer this year was from JP Morgan, Chase & Co, (INR 86LPA). The highest placements from other departments were 40+ LPA as well. The average placement offer was 7.05 LPA and median of 7 LPA. You can check everything out regarding placements on Facebook, the Training & Placement Cell, and KGEC.
Infrastructure: Don't expect much infrastructure. You will get those same old buildings with ceiling fans, don't expect ACs anywhere. There is no Wi-Fi. The library is decent, but you can't go and sit there to study. It doesn't have tables and stuff, just go and issue the books you need, that's all. The hostel is okay, you will face some seniority from the seniors if you are staying at the hostel. Especially, before you get freshers you will have some rules and regulations to follow like you will have to wear formal and stuff to go to college every day, that's all.
Faculty: Faculty members are okay, most of them convey in Bengal but there are some golden gems in between them. The curriculum is something I don't like, it's pretty outdated, compared to other colleges like JGEC. We still haven't got the new curriculum. The semester exams are fine, and not a big hassle tbh.
Other: All the courses are pretty good here. I would have asked for a better campus and infrastructure, but I can't do that. The fest here is pretty insane and is the second largest fest of B.Teach college all over West Bengal. The alumni connection is pretty good as well. You can get TFW and after you join the college, you can even get a scholarship and feel back. There is a huge sports event as well.
