Other economically backward students, whose family income falls between INR1.00 to 5.00 Lacs per annum, are granted a remission of 2/3rd of the tuition fee.
Once students have registered on the GATE application portal, they must participate in the subsequent CCMT counselling process. In this process, the M.Tech seats are allocated based on the candidate's performance in the GATE exam and the availability of seats. NIT Meghalaya Application Process
Candidates seeking admission in BTech, MTech, and MSc at NIT Meghalaya are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. For admission to MSc programme at NIT Meghalaya candidate must complete the institution's entrance standards, which include achieving a valid score in the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for MSc followed by CCMN Counselling. Also candidates have to fulfill the eligibility criteria i.e. Bachelor's degree with 60% aggregate. NIT Meghalaya conducts its own admission process for the left over seats from the CCMN counselling process.

As per JEE Mains cutoff 2026, CSE was the most competitive specialisation under with the cutoff of 33903 whereas Civil Engineering was the least competitive branch with the cutoff of 83554 for General AI category for admission into BTech course at NIT Meghalaya.

The NIT Meghalaya JEE Main cutoff 2026 was published for admission to different BTech course specialisations for the first round. The cutoff was declared for different All India and Home State quota categories.
