The admission process for NIT Meghalaya 2026 is entirely based on the candidate's performance in the entrance exam and personal interview(if required). Candidates are required to first qualify for the eligibility criteria of the courses they are interested in and apply online for the programme. The JEE Advanced 2026 official website has launched with the new eligibility criteria. NIT Meghalaya Application Process
Candidates seeking admission in BTech, MTech, and MSc at NIT Meghalaya are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment. For the PhD and also MTech candidates must apply via NIT Meghalaya's official website and appear for the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Selection Rounds
For its flagship BTech course, NIT Meghalaya selects students with a valid JEE Main score. Candidates are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Selection for MTech is made through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly, for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, for PhD, both full-time and part-time selection is made through the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Release of Cutoff list, Counselling & Admission Confirmation
The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the NIT Meghalaya fee to confirm their seats. The institute releases the selected candidates' list on its official website. Selected candidates have to pay the fee and confirm their seats.

NIT Meghalaya application process varies course-wise. For the UG and PG courses, candidates must apply via the entrance exam's official website. However, for PhD and MTech (sponsored programme) are required to visit the NIT Meghalaya's official website and fill out the application form online. Also, admission to the vacant seats after CCMN is filled through Institute mode.

Candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. Given below is the course-wise accepted entrance exam:
- BTech aspiring candidates can apply for the programme on the official website of JEE Main and then register for JoSAA counselling.
- For the MTech programme, the candidates are required to register on the official website of GATE. For the rest of the courses, candidates need to register themselves on the official website.
- For MSc admission, candidates need to apply to IIT JAM through the official website of the respective conducting body (www.jam.iisc.ac.in).
For the PhD programme
- Go to the NIT Meghalay's official website
- Fill out the application form available online
- Candidates must make the application fee payment as per category by clicking on the “Make Payment using SBI Collect” link.
- Candidates must submit the saved copy of the online application form along with a soft copy of the documents which should be emailed to the PhD admission official email address.

For MTech-sponsored proramme
- Go to the NIT Meghalay's official website, and click on 'Admission' > 'MTech'. The MTech admission page will open.
- Fill out the online application form correctly
- Upload all the required documents in the online Google form on or before the last date.
- Candidates must make the application fee payment as per category by clicking on the “Make Payment using SBI Collect” link.
Documents must be scanned properly for MTech sponsored programme:
- A recent photograph of the candidate
- Application fee receipt
- Proof of date of birth
- Educational qualifications, mark sheets, and certificates
- Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC) in standard format issued by the Competent Authority. OBC certificate should be the latest.
- Appointment letter issued by the current employer and Experience Certificate of last two years.
- Sponsorship Certificate/No Objection Certificate from the employers (if employed) in the prescribed format

NIT Meghalaya offers a two-year programme in Master of Technology. It is a full-time programme for BTech passed-out candidates. NIT Meghalaya admission to the MTech programme is based on GATE followed by CCMT counselling. However, for MTech sponsored programme candidates must apply via the institution's official website. As per JEE Mains cutoff 2026, CSE was the most competitive specialisation under with the cutoff of 33903 whereas Civil Engineering was the least competitive branch with the cutoff of 83554 for General AI category for admission into BTech course at NIT Meghalaya.

The NIT Meghalaya JEE Main cutoff 2026 was published for admission to different BTech course specialisations for the first round. The cutoff was declared for different All India and Home State quota categories.
