Admission to NDA Pune is entirely based on candidates' performance in the NDA entrance exams, making it comparatively tougher than many other colleges. In addition, the NDA exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). National Defence Academy Pune, offers limited seats in the BTech programme. So, the competition is tough, however, the NDA exam just needs aspirants to be smart and hard-working to cover English, GK, Maths and Science Subjects in the required time period.
Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics & Mathematics as mandatory subjects to become eligible for NDA Pune BTech programme.
To get admission to NDA Pune, students must pass Class 12 as per the required eligibility. After that, aspiring candidates have to register on the official website of UPSC and appear for the NDA Entrance exam. The final selection is done with a personal interview and a mandatory medical examination. The college runs its admission cycle twice a year in two sessions, i.e., NDA- 1 and NDA- 2.
To join NDA, candidates must give the entrance test of the NDA which is held twice in a year (NDA-I and NDA-II). The first notification for the entrance exam is usually issued in the month of January and the second notification comes in around June. The first entrance examination is conducted around April month and the second examination is conducted around September month. The examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the candidates willing to get admission can apply online at the official website of the college.

- Entrance TestEligible candidates need to appear for the NDA & NA Entrance Exam conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
- Service Selection Board (SSB) InterviewShortlisted candidates will be called for 5 day Service Selection Board (SSB) interview process based on the rank obtained in NDA & NA Entrance Exam. SSB process consists of two steps: Step I - Screening Test Screening Test is conducted on the first day of the process and it consists of Officer Intelligent Rating Test (OIR) and Picture Perception and Discussion (PPDT) Test in which candidates are tested for general aptitude, reasoning and intelligence Stage II - Only those candidates who qualify at step-I are admitted to the four days long IInd stage/remaining tests. This stage is broadly divided into further 4 categories: 1) Psychological Testing 2) Personal Interview 3) Ground Tasks Officer (GTO) Testing and 4) Conference Round Candidates aspiring for Airforce are also required to perform Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT).
- Medical TestingCandidates recommended on the basis of performance in Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview are then required to appear before a Medical Board for about a week long medical testings. Candidates appearing for SSB interview for the first time for a particular type of Commission i.e. Permanent or Short Service, shall be entitled up to AC III Tier to and fro railway fare or bus fare.
- Final SelectionCandidates are selected through merit prepared on the basis of recommendations from SSB and Medical boards.
