B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2028

Shades of NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: Recently this year 94.5 percent of students got placed across all branches in B.Teach. Talking about ECE my branch 95.3 percent of students got placed. The highest package offered is 144 LPA, the lowest is 4 LPA, and the average is 13.4 LPA in the B.Tech 2026 passout batch. Top recruiters like Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Optum, Atlassian, etc., come here to recruit freshers. Talking about internships, there is a lower percentage of students who usually get internships and about 35 percent of students got internships in ECE 2026 passout batch.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good and they provide 24/7 Wi-Fi LAN, good labs with centralized AC, and classrooms are also good with centralized AC. The library is of average size, not too large and not too small. Everywhere you will get Wi-Fi facility and AC which makes it count as good infrastructure.
Faculty: Some professors are very helpful and most are not because of the outdated curriculum. They teach very well but they used to teach similar things that have been taught since the 80s. I would say 50 percent of the curriculum is relevant. This curriculum doesn't make you industry-ready, but it makes you goal-oriented and focused on exploring yourself. Exams are a little bit difficult and the passing percentage is good enough of 94 percent.
Other: I chose B.Tech ECE because I love to explore both core and non-core. College infrastructure can be improved and the curriculum must be updated. Ojass and Culfest are the main fest of NIT Jamshedpur and each branch also has its own fest.

It has good academics and decent campus life.
Placements: Top roles offered for ECE at NIT Jamshedpur include software engineer, SDE, data analyst, and ML roles (via IT & tech companies). Core profiles offered are embedded systems engineer, VLSI, digital design engineer, telecom/RF engineer, and IoT engineer. The top recruiting company is Nvidia. The highest package offered is 64.6 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 10 LPA. The average package offered is 20 LPA. 90 percent of students get placed.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our course are good. The only demerits are that the labs felt a little bit boring because of their old buildings. The library in our college is very good and contains all books that a B.Tech student wants. Our classrooms are decent. The quality of our hostel is very good.
Faculty: Teachers are generally helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. One or two ECE teachers are the best. The course curriculum is relevant, but we only need to work harder. It almost makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not so tough if we get the knowledge of how to study for exams. The pass percentage is 33 percent.

Good placements with no campus life.
Placements: The college placement percentage has dropped, but usually it's above 90%. The highest is more than 80 LPA this year, and the average is about 16 LPA. I am not sure about the lowest. Since I am a first year student, I am a newbie, so I can't tell much, but placement is decent according to the stats and seniors.
Infrastructure: I got a brand new hostel exclusively made for us when we came to our college, and that's the luckiest part of the college. However, the bathing water quality is poor. It causes hair fall and skin issues. The mess is also decent. Alternate non-veg and paneer are given, but there is a degradation in food quality since the semester is coming to an end.
Faculty: Teachers are good, and we can say it's average. New subjects according to their importance in the branch are being added, but still, there are some outdated courses that can be removed. Semester exams are decent enough, but still, I have only given the first semester exams, so I don't have more words to say. However, this time, due to relative grading, it was very hard to score a good CGPA, and many of my classmates got less than 7 CGPA, which is not good compared to previous years.

Pretty good, not so bad, better than good! Can opt!
Placements: 90-30% of students got placed. The highest package is 82 LPA. The average package is 22 LPA. Over 725 job offers were made. More than 260 companies visited the campus. Over 100 new companies participated for the first time. Placements are less than last time, but maybe now it'll pick up due to the increased NIRF ranking.
Infrastructure: Old hostels are bad. New hostels are top-notch. Canteens, etc., are good. Mess food is bad. Classrooms are good. Wi-Fi has a hard setup. It's hard to connect, and the process lags. The library has AC, and it's average, not top-class, though. There's a computer center to use for our work with a good AC setup.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified with many degrees and gold medals from top IITs and all. They teach and cover the syllabus well. Some of them are strict. The curriculum is updated for the 2025 batch. It upgrades to today's time, which is good. But all drawbacks are for batches from 2024 to 2028 only. Exams are hard for real.
Other: I was not getting CSE, so I chose ECE. Relatively, grading should start. Fests and events are at the top-notch! There is an event every other weekend. Fests are top-notch for real. Scholarships, refunds, and everything work well. Sports and tournaments are good too.

The college is good for branches like CSE, ECE, and EE, and also has good placements.
Placements: There is approximately 80% of students placed, also with high packages like 83 LPA and with an average package of 1,600,000 for the ECE branch, and for other branches, it varies. Companies like Atlassian, Aditya Birla, and TCS are some companies with many students placed and interning.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good, with a very nice academic building, air-conditioned and comfortable seats with projectors and boards. Also, the library has AC, and with Wi-Fi on campus, there are good hostels with nice rooms and infrastructure, as well as a good location.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good, highly qualified from top IITs, and have many years of experience. Also, there is a relevant curriculum with good subjects that help in the preparation of the GATE exam and also for placements somewhat. The semester exams are difficult, and the pass percentage is 33%.

Brief review of NIT Jamshedpur, Depth. Of ECE.
Placements: Roughly 95% of students got placed and more than 20 students got summer internships. The highest salary package offered is 83 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA. However, the base pay in 83 LPA is 23 LPA. There are plenty of companies offering more than 20 LPA in base pay to final-year students. The stipend for summer interns varies between Rs. 40,000 per month - Rs. 1,04,000 per month. But most of them got a stipend of Rs. 40,000 per month. Around 5-6 students got a stipend of above Rs. 1,00,000.
Infrastructure: We have air-conditioned labs with LAN ports available for every group of 5-6 students in those labs. The library is also air-conditioned, but the librarian sometimes won't turn on the air conditioner. She thinks that there is no need for it. The library is good for studying with good Wi-Fi connectivity. In hostels, we have a LAN port in every room. Only 75% of them are working. Its speed is 100 Mbps. The mess food is normal but we do get chicken 4 times a week and chicken biryani on Sunday afternoons. There are basketball or volleyball courts in every hostel. There is an institutional health center for medical facilities.
Faculty: The course curriculum gives a basic idea about every topic you should know about. If you're planning to go in core ECE, but of very little to no use if you're planning to go for Dev/SDE roles. We only have one course in the CSE department which I feel should be more. Semester exams vary from department to department. For ECE, it's a bit tough but one can score above 7.5 CGPA if he/she studies properly before exams. In each subject, more than 100 students pass out of 120 in the end-semester exams. Faculty members are well-qualified. All of them have Ph.D. degrees from IITs and are good in their respective subjects.

Excellent placement. 93.8% placement overall in the recession year 2024.
Placements: 1.94 percent of students were placed approximately every year. 2. 83 LPA is the highest package, the average is 16 LPA, and the lowest is 6 LPA. 3. Google, Flipkart, Tata, Amazon, e-kart, Akash, and many more are the top recruiters. 4. Internships are offered at Tata, Google, and other reputed companies, and approximately 80 percent of students get the opportunity of an internship.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is there, all labs are renovated, and centralized air conditioning is in the lecture hall and library. Food quality was great. The canteen is there, and there are very good medical facilities. Indoor sports are there, and all the grounds are but lack maintenance, and there are a lot of clubs.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and are helpful, but some of them are extra strict and some are friendly and supportive. The course is redesigned this year, so it is relevant. Yes, the institute provides internship opportunities, which make us industry-ready. Not that difficult, but exams are normal, and 35 percent is the minimum to pass, and 75% attendance is mandatory.
Other: I chose this course because of excellent placement, and the best thing about this course is that from it we can get placed in core as well as teach too. The course is good; no need for improvisation. Events take place regularly. Fests are there for technical, cultural and sports. Connectivity: 3 km away from the local railway station, 10 km away from the junction railway station, and 100 km away from the airport, i.e., in Ranchi, the campus is close from all sides except one. Scholarships and fee waivers are there.

Review about NIT, Jamshedpur.
Placements: This NIT is one of the best and most popular among all NITs in the placement sector. Because you can find almost 95–100% placement in the placement sector. The average package is more than 15 LPA for the top branches and more than 10 LPA for the other branches. The highest package touches 80 LPA every year. You can also find good internships here.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is just okay but it is enough to survive here. Academic building is awesome. Wi-Fi is updated this year. Hostels are not as expected. Labs and lab equipment are in good condition. Mess is average but you need to adjust and almost this condition is in all NITs. Other buildings and the rest of the college are nothing.
Faculty: Almost all professors are experienced and skilled. They will help and guide you in any condition. But some professors are dangerous and they are not supposed to give you semester exam marks or a CGPA. The curriculum is well planned, which teaches you useful information.

Your expected JEE Main AIR is about 26520. The last year closing rank in NIT Jamshedpur was 95375 in ECE under HS quota for asked category. Hence if this trends continue for this year also, than your chances for admission are very less.

Hello Benimadhav, Do you really want pursue engineering in spite of getting 80 out of 360 marks in JEE Mains? I would advise you to seek guidance from career counsellor. Commerce and humanities too are good choices.

Hello Abhishek, If you want to seek admission in most sought after branch then definitely you have to score big. But, it's always good to have big aims. I think, percentile of 60-70 should be good.

ECE is better than EE. choose EE only and only when you have deep knowledge of 11th and 12th physics.
