B.Tech. (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Reasons why not to leave the admission here, NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: Talking of students placed in 2024, the number of offers represented was 725 plus. Companies visited were more than 260. The highest package was 82 LPA, and the average was 12.63 LPA. Overall, 93.76 percent of students were placed. Prominent recruiters were Atlassian, Flipkart, and Accenture. In the Mechanical department, the placement percentage was 91.5 percent. The batch size of the 2024 passout was 673.
Infrastructure: Speaking of academic facilities and infrastructure, lectures are taken in a new lecture hall, which has all facilities, Wi-Fi, LAN, a projector, and a library is near the lecture hall, so you can study after attending lectures. Labs of all subjects are in the old academic building, the labs' infrastructure is a bit old, fans are there, but in peak summers, they're of no use. The equipment and machinery of some labs are new, but some are of the old kind, but good if you're in robotics, electronics, and computer labs. Wi-Fi is present on the entire campus, and LAN is also in every hostel room.
Faculty: Professor and PhD scholars are very helpful, though a couple of them might be tough or strict, but still, they understand their students and are always available. The course is very good and bifurcation in every semester is done in a good way, students also get practical knowledge through labs, making students ready for the real world. Semester exam toughness varies with the professor. But with relatively grading it doesn't matter a lot now. To pass, a student must get marks higher than 35 in theory and 40 in labs.
Other: This college is the best option for college life and placement offers. With many cultural teams and technical teams, fests and events, you will never feel left out and will always learn.

Good placements, strong academics, and a vibrant campus life.
Placements: So, the placement of the Mechanical Engineering department is 97-99%. The highest package was around 20.5 LPA, the lowest was 5.5 LPA, and the average package is 7-8.5 LPA. Top companies like Tata Steel, JSW, JSL, JSPL, L&T, Vedanta, RIL, ABG, etc., visit our college. They provide various roles such as GET, Management Role, Design Role, Sales Role, etc.
Infrastructure: The Mechanical Engineering department has good infrastructure, including well-equipped labs and smart classrooms with projectors. The high-speed Wi-Fi is available across the campus. The central library is large, air-conditioned, and has enough books and journals. Hostels are very good but less maintained, with issues like water problems and Wi-Fi issues. The food quality is average, but you can eat. The grounds for sports are very good, and the sports infrastructure is good.
Faculty: Faculty members are experienced, supportive, and knowledgeable, especially in core subjects; however, some professors are less experienced and knowledgeable. Exams are moderately difficult, and you can score very well with one week of study before the exam. The passing percentage is 95-97%.
Other: I chose Mechanical at NIT Jamshedpur because the placement is very good, and this is the oldest branch with strong fundamentals and good industry exposure. The campus life is vibrant, with events like OJASS (tech fest) and CulFest (cultural fest).

Honest Review of NIT Jamshedpur. Having excellent placement records.
Placements: Top-level exposure and placement records with a vast number of companies and opportunities for students. About 94% of the placement records an overall average package of around 12 LPA. Over 240 companies visit every year for recruitment. Also, students prepare for the GATE examination.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT Jamshedpur is a mixture of new and old buildings. The infrastructure of classrooms is new with well-maintained classes, but the labs are in old buildings with new, updated equipment. There are very good hostels with single rooms and facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified from IITs and NITs, having experience working with top research Institutes like ISRO and DRDO. In the department of mechanical engineering, there are around 40 faculty members, and almost all are very supportive. The course curriculum is industry-ready for mechanical students.
Other: There are lots of fests and events, some of which are Ojas tech fests.

Good memories with top placements and decent infrastructure.
Placements: Last year approximately 95% of students were placed in the mechanical branch. The highest package is 22 LPA, and the lowest salary is 7 LPA. The average package offered by this college is 10.4 LPA. In a batch of 106 students, 25 students got internships. Top roles include product manager, etc.
Infrastructure: My college was established in 1960. Our campus has about 300 acres of land. Infrastructure is good. Hostel and college lecture halls are well-equipped and maintained. In hostels, we face Wi-Fi issues frequently but after many complaints, it has improved. Now, food quality in the mess is pretty decent.
Faculty: Teachers are really well qualified, educated, and helpful as well. Their quality of teaching is excellent. Besides course curriculum, we have to study for ourselves to get industry-ready. Semester exams are not that difficult. Me as well as my friends study a week before the exams.
Other: Honestly, I chose this college and course because of my rank, and it was the only college with a good and decent placement ratio.

A place of knowledge - NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: Placement scenario in our college is really good. Overall 90% of students got placed in every branch. The median package of all the branches is over 8 LPA. The highest package is 1.23 crore. The recruiting companies coming to our college are also really good like Tata Group, Atlassian, Adobe, etc.
Infrastructure: The lecture hall complex of our college is very good. It is new and filled with many new electrical equipment with a smartboard in every class. All classes are centrally air-conditioned. Classes are very big and there are 3 floors in the lecture hall. Hostel facility in our college is not that great but very good. There are 7 boys hostel and 3 girls hostel. Since our college was established in 1960s, the old hostel is not that great but it is maintained well. We have good water facilities, and mess facility is okay.
Faculty: Teachers at our college are highly qualified. They are Ph.D. scholars and most of them are graduated from IITs. They have a very rich research background and help us a lot in making us grasp the concept. The curriculum is relevant. The exam culture in college is very serious with most of the students getting passed. If someone doesn't perform well they will get a backlog.
Other: I got into this college after passing the joint entrance examination main and after filling this college in my counseling process, I was able to get admission to this college in mechanical engineering courses. Fests in our college are really fun with 3 being major fests namely URJA (sports fest), Culfest (cultural fest), and OJASS (the techno-management fest). There are also the branch fests of all branches like Cognito of mechanical engineering, Pravadhan of ECE branch, and many more. As per the government rules, our college provides many scholarships to students. The clubs and society are also great and technical club is the best.

The hard work of your two years: NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: NIT Jamshedpur has a great record of placement. Presently, they guarantee 100% placement with some terms and conditions according to your academic performance in the program you are going for. Top recruiting companies include L&T Construction, TATA, ACC, BMW, Ford, and Maruti Suzuki. The highest package in Mechanical Engineering this year is 18 LPA and 5 LPA as the minimum.
Infrastructure: Hostels are good only for seniors. For the freshers, you will get Hostel I (very old), but it provides all the common facilities like Wi-Fi and lawns in every room. The mess facilities are present in every hostel. There are enough hostels for the accommodation of each and every student admitted here. There are labs for the respective departments, and LHC is the most generous part. It is the common place where you will visit regularly.
Faculty: The teachers and faculty members are highly helpful to you, but the curriculum of NIT JSR is the toughest among all NITs, and it is very tough to score 9 CGPA/SGPA without proper study, although CGPA matters in placement. The pass percentage of the college is approximately 96%.

Good placement, decent campus, average hostels, well educated faculty members, & good facilities.
Placements: Mechanical Engineering is the best at NIT Jamshedpur. It has a record of 100% placement with a maximum package of 21 LPA. In this course, the median CTC package offered is almost 9 LPA. Companies like Tata Steel, JSW Steel, etc., offer placements and internships to the students.
Infrastructure: The university is really great. Academic buildings, the library, and labs are well-maintained. But, on the other hand, hostel facilities are very poor. Hostel infrastructure is developing but is not yet as good as one might imagine. Mess food needs to be improved.
Faculty: Teachers are really very helpful and provide good guidance for the overall course. Examinations are well-conducted, and the curriculum is well-designed and includes all the necessary topics and skills a mechanical engineer requires in this world. Exams are moderate, but one gets to learn many new, helpful things from them.
Other: I want to be an aerospace engineer but wanted a core branch. So I chose Mechanical Engineering, which is a vast field in this world. This branch has many advantages. There are plenty of fests and events conducted.

100% placements in 2022 and having good facilities.
Placements: Around 93% of students got placements last year in our course. The highest salary package offered is 18 LPA. The average salary package offered is 9.3 LPA. Tata Motors and Aditya Birla Group are top recruiting companies. Almost 50-60% of students got internships from our course in Tata Motors and some other companies.
Infrastructure: NIT Jamshedpur has very beautiful infrastructure. Hostels provided are also great. Wi-Fi is good. There is also LAN for us. The mess food is also very good. The menu is awesome. There are many sports to play in our college. There is a sports fest in our college named URJA, and it is very popular.
Faculty: In our department, there are around 30 professors. Almost all have Ph.D. degrees. Their teaching experience is very long. Our HOD proof. Sanjay is on the list of the world's top 2% scientists of Stanford University published by Elsevier in 2023. Semester exams are moderate. Almost all students in our department of our batch passed.

To get seat in good NIT but considering your category and home state quota, you have some chances. a week ago The last year closing rank at NIT Jamshedpur in asked branch in OBC(NCL) under HS quota was 41223. While your expected AIR is above 63000. Hence, your chances are moderate here.
