NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, NIT Meghalaya ranks #83 under the category 'Engineering'.
A few more updates are given below:
- The IIT JAM 2026 second admission list will be out on Jun 8, 2026, for admission to the MSc course.
- The GATE CCMT 2026 counselling registration for admission to the MTech course is ongoing, with the last date for the same being Jun 5, 2026.
- The JoSAA counselling registrations have started for admission to the BE/BTech course. The last date to register is Jun 11, 2026 (5 PM). Also, the round 1 seat allotment result will be out on Jun 13, 2026.
- The GATE CCMN 2026 counselling registrations have started for admission to the MSc course. The deadline for the same is Jun 5, 2026.

The 2023 cutoff for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering was 25978, which was the least competetive specialisations offered by NIT Nagaland. The NIT Meghalaya JEE Mains Cutoff 2024 was released for Round 1. The Cutoff ranks were released for different categories for various BTech specialisations. For the SC AI category candidates, the Cutoff for various courses ranged between 3059 and 7043, among which Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive course. BTech in Civil Engineering was the least competitive course, for the SC AI category candidates.
For the ST AI category candidates, the Cutoff ranged between 974 and 2652, for different specialisations. BTech in CSE was the most competitive course while BTech in Mechanical Engineering was the least competitive one.

The CCMN R1 (Closing Rank) in Physics stood at 1746, in Mathematics it was 1475, and finally in Chemistry it was 1539 for 2023. The highest rank was in Physics, which indicates a very tough competition for the particular specialisations compare to other.
MSc seat allocation for MSc is done via the CCMN counselling. Candidates must participate in the CCMN counselling where they release cutoff for selection of students. The CCMN Counselling 2023 for the three specialisations was concluded after Round 5. The CCMN Last Round (Closing Rank) in Physics stood at 2417, in Mathematics it was 2462, and finally in Chemistry it was 2150.

NIT Meghalaya offeres two years full-time MSc progarmme especially for the graduate students to pursue their studies in the fields of science. However, candidates are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the institution, which are as follows:
- Candidates must have bachelor’a degree in BSc with 60% aggregate

NIT Meghalaya offers various specialisations under its M.Tech programme. Some of the specialisations are Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The distribution of seats among all specialisations is equal. Under each specialisation, the institute offers 25 seats each. The allocation of these seats is done based on valid GATE score and CCMT counselling process.
To get an M.Tech seat at NIT Meghalaya, students must follow the below-mentioned steps:
1. Check the eligibility criteria. Only those who meet the eligibility criteria are considered for the selection process.
2. If eligible, apply for the GATE exam.
3. After the exam results, participate in the subsequent counselling process.
4. If allocated a seat, report to the institute for verification of documents.
5. Pay the admission fee to secure the seat.
The NIT Meghalaya GATE Cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 1. The Cutoff scores ranged between 352 and 492. The most competitive course was CSE among all. The Cutoff score for CSE was 492, for the General AI category candidates. Therefore, candidate with the Cutoff score of 450 cannot get M.Tech in CSE at NIT Meghalaya.
For the OBC AI category candidates, the most competitive course was CSE with the Cutoff of 423. Therefore candidate falling under OBC AI category getting a score of 450 can get M.Tech in CSE at NIT Meghalaya.
For admission in B.Tech mechanical engineering you have to clear JEE. The cuttoff varies as per the year in the year 22 batch they got at 95 even (general) if you are from categories like OBC/sc/st it vary even up to 90/87/85. As in the same pattern, the cuttoff for female candidate is different.
Admission requirements can vary from year to year and depend on various factors like students appering inJEEand no of seats avilable in collages. Few other factors like candidates droping from the college.
