SEED 2026 Syllabus - Candidates appearing in SEED 2026 must consult the updated syllabus only. The SID admission portal hosts the SEED 2026 syllabus that candidates can refer to for exam preparation. However, note that if SID changes the syllabus for the upcoming exam, the candidate has to incorporate it in the SEED exam preparation.

The SEED syllabus will include questions from the following topics: Visualisation, Observational, perceptual & reasoning abilities, Creative & problem-solving abilities, and Application of basic knowledge of Science & Mathematics. Scores of the SEED Written exam 2026 will be used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI).
In this article, we bring you the SEED 2026 syllabus for both the 1. written exam and 2. PRPI. So, keep reading.
The start date for uploading portfolios is March 27, 2025. The portfolio upload link was given on the SID admission portal. The candidate needed to follow the specified guidelines when uploading the portfolio.
The portfolio contained the following elements:
Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
Photography
3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.
The call letters for the personal interview (PRPI admit card) were issued on March 21, 2025. The admit card were issued only to candidates who complete the slot booking process.
Note hard copies of the call letter are sent to the candidate.
On the day of the PRPI, the candidate will have to display the admit card on demand. Any candidate failing to do so will not be allowed to sit in the exam.
The digital portfolio should be a compilation of the best work of the candidate that showcases teh candidate’s skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques.
It is recommended to take good quality pictures of this work and compile them in a Power Point Presentation. Note that a maximum 15 slides are allowed.
You need to then convert this into PDF (max size 5 MB). Try to be different and include unique and interesting things.

SEED Exam Syllabus 2026
SEED Syllabus is such that this Design Aptitude Test would have questions on design-related topics. SEED exam evaluates aspirants on the basis of their aptitude in design. Aspirants can go through indicative topics from which questions might be asked in SEED.
SEED Syllabus: Visualisation
Understanding and visualization of simple and complex 2D & 3D geometric shapes, their manipulations, and spatial relationships through representations in pictorial and geometric forms.
SEED Syllabus: Observational, perceptual and reasoning abilities
Ability to read and see objects and information beyond obvious details, make connections, make comparisons, form opinions, and draw meanings & conclusions. Analyze your observations, express your point of view, and present in a systematic and structured manner.
SEED Syllabus: Creative and problem-solving abilities
Ability to visualize and relate images around us. Ability to identify a problem and attempt to provide solutions.
SEED Syllabus: Application of basic knowledge of Science and Mathematics
Observing the application of basic principles of science and mathematics taught up to the 10th standard in the day-to-day activities & objects and finding interesting relevance.
SEED Syllabus: Art, craft, culture, design, and environment
General awareness of Art, Craft, Culture, Design, and Environment in India as well as in a global context. Various topics and subtopics related to people, material, tools, techniques, issues & concerns, influences, period, and contemporary trends.

The candidate can download the official syllabus of SEED 2025 from the official website of the Symbiosis Institute of Design - sid.edu.in. In the homepage of SID, click on “Admission Process” under “Programmes.” The window that opens will contain information on the SEED 2025 syllabus. The candidate can note down the syllabus. SEED Syllabus 2026: Portfolio Presentation
Candidates who qualify in the written exams will have to upload a portfolio as part of the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). The link to upload the portfolio will be activated on the SID admission portal soon after the SEED 2026 shortlist for the PRPI has been declared.
The eligible candidate will have to upload the portfolio as per the given format and specifications. The portfolio must be in digital format and must be a compilation of the student's best works. It must showcase the skills, passion, and interest of the candidate in a variety of areas and techniques.
The works must be compiled in a Power Point Presentation of maximum 15 slides. The candidate has to convert this a PDF of up to 5 Mb. Try to include unique and interesting things in the portfolio. The submitted portfolios will be reviewed by a panel of interviewers.
The SEED Portfolio may contain the following items:

That being said SID reserves the right to make any changes to the syllabus keeping in the mind the changing dynamics of design as an academic discipline. So, the candidate has the discretion to decide whether the want to join any coaching institute of not. Note that there are many coaching institutes that offer preparatory classes for exams like NIFT, NID DAT, etc.
The candidate also has the option of downloading preparation materials online. But note that most practice materials are chargeable.
SEED Syllabus 2026: Personal Interaction
In this round, candidates who will be shortlisted on the basis of their portfolios will be called for final selection. Here, the panel will ask questions related to the programme they have opted for and also about the portfolios submitted by the candidate. The entire process will take place via online mode only. There is a possibility that an interviewer can ask the candidate to sketch or draw a topic for better assessment.

How to Prepare for SEED 2026
The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will conduct the SEED 2026 written exams in an online proctored mode. Here is how you need to prepare for the exam.
- Go through the exam syllabus: The syllabus will contain the topics you need to cover for the exam. Check out the topics, also the important ones that will carry maximum weightage. You can divide the syllabus into easy, moderate, and difficult. This way, you can allocate more time for the difficult topics.
- Align your preparation with the exam pattern: While the syllabus tells you what to study, the SEED 2026 exam pattern will tell you how to study for the given topics in the syllabus. For instance, the SEED exam will be conducted in an online-proctored, computer-based mode. Also, questions will be objective type. So, you need to be prepared for that.
- Make a study timetable: This study timetable will help you cover the syllabus within a specific time and also help you devise proper exam strategies.
- Take notes: Taking notes during study will keep you engaged and focused. Also, this practice will help you jot down important points. In the last few weeks leading up to the exam, the notebook can be a great resource for quick revision.

The SEED 2025 exam will be conducted tentatively in the 2nd week of January 2025. The SEED 2025 syllabus is released by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). It is very possible that the candidate finds some topics difficult. When the candidate encounters difficult topics, the first urge should be to try a little harder to tackle the topic. The syllabus for the design aptitude test is prescribed by the exam conducting authority, the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). With this, the exam pattern is also decided by it. So, the candidate must consult the updated exam pattern when strating their exam preparation. Note that typically wholesale changes to the exam syllabus is not done.
For instance, the exam syllabus for UCEED was changed in 2023, but some parts were kept as it is.
Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des programme offered by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) first needs to appear in the SEED 2025 written exam. Shortlisted candidates have to next appear in a PRPI round. The final merit list for admission to SID will be prepared based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction.
Note that if the candidate doesn’t participate in the PRPI round, he or she will not be considered for admission. The allotment of seats to the B.Des programme will be based on the merit rank of the candidate.

No, SEED M.Des 2026 application forms have not been released yet. The applications are out only for the B.Des programme by Symbiosis Institute of Design. M.Des Applications for 2026 are expected to be out soon.

Yes, SEED will conduct a mock test for B.Des Admission 2026. The Mock test will be conducted on January 07, 2026, and the exams will be conducted on January 11, 2026.
