The seat intake of the M.Des programme through SEED 2026 is 24. 20 seats are for Indian students and 4 seats are for International students. Intake is subject to approval from the SIU.

Candidates have to upload a digital portfolio as part of admission process at SID. It must be candidate’s best works that show skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. When uploading portfolio, candidate must follow rules and guidelines issued.
SEED Portfolio must contain
- Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
- Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
- Photography
- 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.
- Click good quality pictures of these and compile them in a PowerPoint presentation of a maximum 15 slides. Convert this into a PDF of up to 5 Mb.
- Take pictures that are different from others. Do not copy others.
- Try to include Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work, college of images, 2D and 3D articles, photography and 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products, etc.
SEED B.Des round 2 was conducted on March 22, 2026. It was conducted in online mode. Exam timing was one hour between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day. It had 60 questions.
Admission to B.Des & M.Des program at SID - Step-wise process
The admission process of the Symbiosis Institute of Design will be online. The exam is held in a computer-based mode.
- The candidate needs to first appear in the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) 2026. The result of SEED 2026 is used to shortlist candidates for a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round.
- Shortlisted candidates have to upload their portfolios and PRPI tasks.
- The Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) is conducted in online mode.
- A merit list will be prepared based on the performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 entrance test, uploaded tasks, and PRPI round.
- Those included in the merit list are eligible for admission and need to pay the admission fee and get registered.

SID presently offers only UG courses in design. So, candidates can’t appear in the SEED 2026 exam for admission to any PG courses. The SEED written exam is administered in the month of January. Candidates who qualify in the written exam has to next appear in a PRPI round. The final merit list for SID will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, personal interaction, and PRPI and Portfolio review.

SEED 2024 eligibility criteria for the B.Des programme is explained below.
A candidate must have passed 10+2 (any stream) or an equivalent or 10+3 Diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% (SC/ST - 45%) aggregate marks.
Candidate who are appearing for the final examination of 10+2 grade or 10+3 Diploma programme may also apply. However, the results of the examination should have be declared by June of the admission year or prior.

Admission to the 4-year B.Des courses offered by the institute will be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in the SEED 2026 written exam, PRPI and Portfolio Review.
