The answer to the question," What is a Good Score for NIFT 2026?" Try to score above 70+ in GAT if the Question paper is supposed to be 100 marks for B.Des. The good score for B.F.Tech can be around 100+, for M.Des, M.F.M and M.F.Tech, the scores should be between 70 to 80 in written and PI. To get into a good NIFT College, a good score for NIFT B.Des should be between 75 to 85; for B. F.Tech, it should be between 110 to 125.

What is the weightage of NIFT Exam?

NTA conducts NIFT Entrance Exam in two stages: NIFT Stage 1 for Written Exam and NIFT Stage 2 for Situation Test and/or Interview. NIFT Score is calculated on the basis of NIFT Weightage, which is decided by NTA NIFT.

To get a good score in NIFT 2026, 

  • Go through the NIFT syllabus and pattern
  • Make a study timetable and stick to it.
  • Solve NIFT sample papers and previous year's question papers
  • Work on your drawing and observation skills.

Q:   What are the parameters that will be tested during NIFT 2026 Personal Interview (PI)?
A: 

PG candidates will be evaluated on the various parameters as listed below by a panel, in the Personal Interview:

  1. Career orientation 

  2. Aptness for the course 

  3. Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities 

  4. Communication 

  5. General awareness, aptitude, creative and lateral thinking 

Candidates will be shortlisted for the PI based on their performance in the written exam - GAT (and CAT in case of M.Des program).

Please note that NIFT reserves the right to modify the entrance examination scheme. This includes non-conduct of any stage (s) due to unforeseen circumstances.

Q:   How many test centres are there for NIFT 2026 situation test?
A: 

NIFT Situation Test will be conducted in an offline mode at the various NIFT campuses. Considering there are 19 NIFTs, the candidate will be able to select any of these institutes to appear in the Situation Test. The window to select test centres for the Situation Test will be announced soon after the declaration of NIFT results for the written exam. Test centres for the Situation Test will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, candidates need to book their slots as soon as possible. Note that if seats in a particular centre (or institute) fill out, the candidate will not be able to be offered slots for that institute.

Q:   What details will be evaluated during the NIFT Situation Test?
A: 

NIFT situation test will test candidate on Colour scheme, Space visualization, Construction skill, Finesse of the model, Composition of elements, Overall presentation, Innovative and creative use of given material, etc. Situation Test will be evaluated on the spot.

Model made by candidate will not be kept for future reference. Candidate must make sure that their model is unique and stands out from the crowd. After making model, candidate must write about the model- write-up explaining the model.

NIFT Cutoff 2025 for Round 1 for All Campus for Open/ General Category for UG Programmes

The cutoff for NIFT 2026 will be released after the declaration of the NIFT Final Result. Check the cutoff for the General Category for Round 1 for all the NIFT Institutes. For B.Des 2026, candidates should get a rank below 100 for top colleges. For NIFT PG, rank below 150 will be good.

There is no fixed number of mock tests one should take before the NIFT Entrance Exam. A candidate should take at least one mock test daily for the NIFT Entrance Preparation. 10-15 mock tests will really help in preparing for the exam.
