WBJEE 2026: Dates, Registration, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus, Admission Process

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level exam conducted by WBJEEB. The exam is a gateway for candidates seeking admission into B.Tech and B.Pharma courses at universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions in West Bengal. All candidates will have to qualify the entrance examination to be eligible for admission. However, JEE Main qualified candidates who meet the basic eligibility criteria will also be able to register for the counselling and admission process.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The authorities will soon announce the official WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before registering for the entrance examination. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility norms will not be considered for admission into the participating institutes of the state. The criteria might vary for different courses and at the institute level. 

Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE 2026

Nationality

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen

Age restriction

• Candidate must be at least 17 years of age as of the admission year. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam.
• However, for admission to the Marine Engineering Course, the lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2026, and the upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31, 2026.   

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admissions

• The candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all three subjects in regular class mode. 
  • Chemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • Biology
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Application
  • Technical Vocational Subject
• Must have secured a minimum of 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
• Candidates should have qualified in English in the Class 12 exam with at least 30 per cent marks.
• The Board of the Qualifying Examination must be recognised by the Central Government or the State Government concerned.

WBJEE 2026 syllabus will be released soon. Candidates will be able to check the list of subjects, units and topics to be studied for the exam through the WBJEE syllabus 2026. During the preparation process, the candidates should refer to the official syllabus, so that they know which topics have to be covered to perform well in the examination. The level of the WBJEE syllabus will be similar to the 11th and 12th standard qualifying examination. The subjects to be studied for WBJEE 2026 are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

• Check Exam Pattern: Before starting their preparation, the candidates are advised to check the official exam pattern. Using the pattern, the candidates can know the essential features of the entrance examination. 
• Know Official Syllabus: By being familiar with the WBJEE syllabus, the candidates will be able to plan their studies for the entrance exam. 
• Create a Timetable: One of the important tasks for the candidates to complete is to create a personalized timetable. This will allow the candidates to maintain a strict routine for the examination.
• Take Notes: Candidates will be advised to take notes on important topics so that they will be able to revise them anytime, anywhere. 
• Attempt Mock Tests: Candidates will have to ensure that they attempt mock tests regularly. This will help the candidates to know their current preparation progress and become familiar with the pattern of the exam. • Revise Regularly: Revision will be one of the most important factors during preparation. Candidates are advised to revise every day, not to forget what they studied. 

WBJEE 2026 admit card date has not been announced yet. Registered candidates will be able to access their WBJEE admit card online at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee by logging in using their application form number and date of birth. The details available in the WBJEE hall ticket are the the examination centre address, date, timings, guidelines, etc. While reporting at the exam centre, the candidates will have to bring their admit card and one original identity proof. Without these documents, the candidates will not be allowed to attempt the exam. Once the exam centre is allotted, the candidates will not be able to change it.
