WBJEE 2024 question paper will be released soon by the authorities of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) online at wbjeeb.nic.in. By referring to the WBJEE question paper, the candidates can check the questions that had to be solved during the entrance examination. The previous year's papers of WBJEE are important and should be solved for the students to have an idea regarding the type of questions that are common in the exam along with other important information related to the exam pattern such as the duration, division of questions, marking scheme and more. WBJEE aspirants are advised to attempt the previous years' papers to identify the trend of questions and patterns so that they can boost their preparation. Q:   When will WBJEE 2024 be held?

A:

WBJEE 2024 exam date has been announced. The authorities conducted WBJEE 2024 on April 28. WBJEE 2024 was held as a pen-and-paper-based test at 22 districts in West Bengal. However, the examination was also held in Assam (Silchar) and Tripura (Agartala). While filling out the WBJEE application form, the candidates had to select their preferred exam city preferences. WBJEE was 4 hours in duration and the candidates had to attempt two papers - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). 

 

Q:   What is the duration of WBJEE?

A:

According to the WBJEE exam pattern, the duration of the entrance examination is 4 hours. For each paper i.e., Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry), 2 hours have been allotted, and the candidates will have to complete both the sections within the allotted duration. Multiple-choice questions of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have to be answered by the candidates within 4 hours. No extra time will be provided to the candidates to complete the entrance examination.

 

Q:   How are the questions divided as per the WBJEE exam pattern?

A:

According to the official WBJEE exam pattern, the questions will be divided into three categories. Each category will have its own marking scheme and questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates are advised to correctly answer as many questions as they can to secure high marks in the examination.

  • Category I - 110 multiple-choice questions where only one answer option is correct.
  • Category II - 25 multiple-choice questions where the candidates will have to select only one correct option. 
  • Category III - 20 multiple-choice questions where one or more option will be correct.

Category I

Each correct answer will be awarded one mark.

An incorrect response will yield a loss of ¼ mark

For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks.

 

Category II

Only one option is correct, the correct response yields two marks.

An incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks

For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield a -1/2 (25% negative) mark.

 

Category III

One or more options may be correct. Only correct responses will yield 2(two) marks.

There is no negative marking.

Q:   Are mock tests important for WBJEE preparation?

A:

Yes, Mock tests are very important for the WBJEE preparation as it will allow the candidates to have an experience of how the examination will be held. Another advantage of the WBJEE mock tests is that the candidates will be able to identify important and recurring topics and accordingly prepare it. Through mock tests, the candidates can also know their commonly made mistakes and correct it before the examination. Time management skills are also boosted through the mock tests.

A:

The official marking scheme is released through the WBJEE exam pattern. Candidates are advised to check the marking scheme to understand how their correct and incorrect answers will be marked by the authorities. 

  • Category I Questions - Each correct answer will be given one mark. An incorrect response will result in a loss of 1/4 mark. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will result in a loss of 1/4 marks.
  • Category II Questions - For every correct response, two marks will be given. An incorrect response will result in a loss of 1/2 marks. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield a -1/2 mark.
  • Category III Questions - Each correct response will be given two marks. There will be no negative marking.

Q:   Can I attempt WBJEE in Bengali?

A:

Yes. As per the official WBJEE exam pattern, the candidates will be able to attempt the entrance examination in Bengali. Two language options will be provided to the candidates for the examination. Candidates will be able to attempt WBJEE in either English or Bengali. Since the question booklet will be available in both languages, the candidates will be required to let the invigilators know about their preference in the centre. No other medium of language will be used by the authorities. There will be no difference in the questions. 

 

Q:   What are the sections in the WBJEE exam?

A:

WBJEE question paper will consist of two sections - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). While Paper 1 will consist of 75 questions, Paper 2 will have 80 questions. All questions will be multiple-choice in nature. The duration of each paper will be 2 hours. To qualify the entrance examination, the candidates will have to attempt both sections. The detailed WBJEE exam pattern will be released online at wbjeeb.nic.in.
