The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has released the TNPSC Group 2 answer key 2025 on its official website - tnpsc.gov.in. The candidates can download the TNPSC Group 2 answer key pdf and check their answers. The candidates can send objections against the incorrect answers till October 14, 2025. The Commission conducted the TNPSC Combined Competitive Group 2/2A prelims exam on September 28, 2025.

The Commission will consider the representations and prepare the final answer key. The marks of the candidates will be calculated based on the final answer key and TNPSC Group 2 result 2025 will be released. The Commission released the TNPSC Group 2 notification 2025, mentioning all the important information such as vacancies, eligibility, age limit, syllabus, exam pattern and important dates for the candidates. What is TNPSC Group 2?

The full name of the TNPSC Group 2 exam is Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II). TNPSC conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II) to shortlist candidates for recruitment to various Civil Services in Tamil Nadu. Note: There is no maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ SC (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Most Backward Class (MBC)/ Denotified Community (DC), Backward Class (BC), Backward Classes (Muslims) and destitute widows of all categories. The maximum age limit means that candidates should not have completed 58 years of age on the date of notification or at the time of selection to a particular post.

The official website informs, “Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC (A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM) and BCM who have put in five years and more of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

  • Age concession up to 10 years above the maximum age limit is given to differently-abled persons
  • The maximum age limit for ex-servicemen is 48 years. However, it may be noted that the age concession does not apply to ex-servicemen applicants who have already been recruited to any class or service or category.

Q:   How many attempts are allowed for TNPSC Group 2 Exam?

There is no limitation on the number of attempts in the TNPSC Group 2 exam. There is no mention of limitation on the number of attempts in the official notification. The candidates can appear in the TNPSC Group 2 exam till they fulfil the age criteria. 

Candidates appearing for the TNPSC Group 2 Exam have unlimited attempts as long as they fulfill the age criteria, with the maximum age limit being 30 years.

TNPSC Group 2 Selection Process

TNPSC Group-2 selection process includes the following stages:

  • Preliminary exam (written): Candidates applying for the exam need to appear for the preliminary exam, which is an objective-type written test.
  • Mains exam (written): Candidates qualified in the preliminary exam need to appear for the mains exam, which is a descriptive written test.
  • Oral test (interview): Candidates who declared passed the main exam need to appear for the oral test.

The Commission revised the Group-2 syllabus after the modification suggested by the state government. As per the new guidelines, a new section of Tamil Language questions was introduced in the preliminary paper. There will be 100 objective-type questions. The candidates can opt either for the English section or Tamil section. The rest of the sections are similar for everyone.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern (Revised)

After the introduction of the Tamil Language Eligibility Test in the preliminary exam, the exam pattern was bound to change. As per the new TNPSC Group -2 exam pattern, there were 100 multiple-choice questions for testing the knowledge of the Tamil Language. The candidates can opt for the General English section also instead of Tamil questions. The questions were of SSLC standard. The TNPSC Group 2 Exam Duration was 3 hours. The TNPSC Group 2 exam was conducted based on the following revised pattern:

The candidates should understand that the questions in PART A will be in Tamil Language and the questions in Part B will be in Tamil and English. The Part B of the answer sheets will be evaluated only, if the candidate secures minimum qualifying marks 40% (i.e., 60 Marks) in Part A. The final merit of the TNPSC Group 2 prelims exam will be calculated by adding the marks secured in both parts (Part A + Part B)

Q:   How many days prior to the examination will the TNPSC Group 2 Hall Ticket be available for download?

Q:   Has TNPSC released a model question paper based on the new syllabus of Group 2 exam?

Yes, the TNPSC has released a model question paper for the Group 2 exam based on the new syllabus. The Commission introduced the Tamil Language test in the prelims exam and the model test paper was also released for the candidates so that they can ascertain the level of difficulty. The candidates should practice with the previous year's question papers and mock tests to score better in the real examination.
Q:   Where is the TNPSC Group 2 Counselling conducted?
A: 
TNPSC Group-2 counselling is held at the commission's office for all the candidates qualifying for the oral test/ interview round. In the TNPSC counselling round, candidates are recruited for different posts based on the option exercised by them and the availability of vacancies. The candidates are required to carry all their academic and professional certificates on the day of Counselling. Besides this, the candidates are also required to carry all the relevant documents for claiming relaxation in any of the exam processes.
Q:   How much time is provided to the candidates to fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application form?
A: 

The Commission provides around thirty days to fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application form. The Commission provide a time period of a month to apply online for the exam. TNPSC Group 2 notification 2025 was released online on July 15, 2025 and the last date to apply for the exam is August 13. The candidates can fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application online only.

The TNPSC Group 2 exam 2025 will be conducted on September 28, 2025.
