The TNPSC Group 2 exam is a combined civil services exam for various posts. These posts can be divided into two categories.

  • Group 2 posts require interview
  • Group 2A posts do not require an interview

The TNPSC Group 2A post has no interview in the selection process. The candidates need to appear in the TNPSC Group 2 interview if they opt for Group 2 posts.

What is TNPSC Group 2?

The full name of the TNPSC Group 2 exam is Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II). TNPSC conducts the Combined Civil Services Examination-II (CCSE-II) to shortlist candidates for recruitment to various Civil Services in Tamil Nadu. Q:   Who conducts the TNPSC Group 2 Exam?

A:

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) conduct the TNPSC Group 2 and 2A exam with the official name of Combined Civil Service Exam Group 2 and Group 2A. TNPSC is a Constitutional body that conducts the exam at the state level. The exam has three-stage selection process namely:

  • Prelims
  • Mains (written)
  • Interview for Group 2 Posts

The syllabus for the prelims exam is the same but the structure for the main exam is different for the Group 2 and 2A aspirants.

Q:   What are the common grounds for challenging the TNPSC Group 2 answer key?

A:

The following are some of the common reasons for challenging the TNPSC Group 2 answer key:

  • A question is ambiguous
  • A question is factually incorrect
  • A question has two correct answers.

The candidates can send objections against the incorrect questions/answers and send the standard reference along with their objections. The Commission will consider the eligible objections and consider them while preparing the final answer key.

 

Q:   How can I challenge the TNPSC Group 2 Answer Key?

A:

Candidates can challenge the TNPSC Group 2 answer key by submitting their objections online through the TNPSC website. The last date to submit objections is usually a few weeks after the answer key is released. The Commission prescribe the format of sending the objections against incorrect questions/answers. The candidates will be required to send the standard references to substantiate their claims. 

The Commission willl change the tentative answer key based on the correct objections and prepare the final answer key based on which the result will be prepared.

The Commission released the notification online. The notification mentions all the important instructions for the application. TNPSC Group 2 Age Limit

The age limit varies from post to post and category to category. The details of the permissible age limit for each of the post is mentioned below.

Note: There is no maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ SC (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Most Backward Class (MBC)/ Denotified Community (DC), Backward Class (BC), Backward Classes (Muslims) and destitute widows of all categories. The maximum age limit means that candidates should not have completed 58 years of age on the date of notification or at the time of selection to a particular post.

The official website informs, “Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC (A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM) and BCM who have put in five years and more of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

Age Relaxation in TNPSC Group 2

TNPSC Group 2 Selection Process

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Centre

TNPSC exam centres are located in all the districts of the state. The candidates can choose the exam centres at their convenience. The TNPSC Group 2 exam is conducted offline across the state. The allocation of the exam centre is based on the number of candidates opting for that TNPSC Group 2 exam centre.

TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus

The Commission revised the Group-2 syllabus after the modification suggested by the state government. As per the new guidelines, a new section of Tamil Language questions was introduced in the preliminary paper. There will be 100 objective-type questions. The candidates can opt either for the English section or Tamil section. The rest of the sections are similar for everyone.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern (Revised)

After the introduction of the Tamil Language Eligibility Test in the preliminary exam, the exam pattern was bound to change. As per the new TNPSC Group -2 exam pattern, there were 100 multiple-choice questions for testing the knowledge of the Tamil Language. The candidates can opt for the General English section also instead of Tamil questions. The questions were of SSLC standard. The TNPSC Group 2 Exam Duration is 3 hours. The TNPSC Group 2 exam was conducted based on the following revised pattern:

The candidates should understand that the questions in PART A will be in Tamil Language and the questions in Part B will be in Tamil and English. Q:   When will TNPSC Group 2 Mains exam Answer Key 2023 release?

A:
The TNPSC Group 2 Mains answer key is expected to be released soon. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducted the TNPSC Group 2 main exam on February 25 across the state. The Commission will also release the objection-sending facility. The Commission will release the tentative answer key first and invite objections from the candidates regarding incorrect questions/answers.
 

Q:   Where is the TNPSC Group 2 Counselling conducted?

A:
TNPSC Group-2 counselling is held at the commission's office for all the candidates qualifying for the oral test/ interview round. In the TNPSC counselling round, candidates are recruited for different posts based on the option exercised by them and the availability of vacancies. The candidates are required to carry all their academic and professional certificates on the day of Counselling. Besides this, the candidates are also required to carry all the relevant documents for claiming relaxation in any of the exam processes.
 

Q:   What was the last date to upload the documents for the TNPSC Group 2 Main Exam 2022?

The last date to upload the documents online was December 16, 2022. The candidates could upload their documents through the e-Seva centre of Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited (TACTV). The Commission did not consider the candidature of those candidates who did not upload their documents within the last date of uploading the documents. The TNPSC Group 2 main exam was conducted on February 25, 2023, across the state. It was an objective-type paper conducted offline.

Yes, the TNPSC has released a model question paper for the Group 2 exam based on the new syllabus. The Commission introduced the Tamil Language test in the prelims exam and the model test paper was also released for the candidates so that they can ascertain the level of difficulty. The candidates should practice with the previous year's question papers and mock tests to score better in the real examination.
 

Q:   How much time is provided to the candidates to fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application form?

A:
The Commission provides thirty days to fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application form. The Commission provide a time period of a month to apply online for the exam. TNPSC Group 2 notification was released online on February 23 and the last date to apply for the exam was March 23. The candidates can fill out the TNPSC Group 2 application online only.
