The State Public Service Commission of Tamil Nadu has released the Combined Civil Service Group 2 and Group 2A notification on its official website - tnpsc.gov.in on July 15, 2025. The TNPSC Group 2 recruitment 2025 started with the release of the official notification. The Commission notified 645 TNPSC Group 2 vacancies this year. The Commission released the TNPSC Group 2 apply online link later on the dedicated platform - https://apply.tnpscexams.in/secure?app_id=UElZMDAwMDAwMQ==. The last date to apply online for the exam is August 13, 2025. The Commission will also provide the application correction facility from August 18 to 20.
The candidates should note that the TNPSC Group 2 register number is the first and foremost component for filling out the online TNPSC Group 2 applications. The candidates should note that this year, the number of vacancies is very few in comparison to the previous year, and hence, the cutoff at every stage will be high. The Commission will conduct the TNPSC Group 2 exam 2025 on September 28.
TNPSC Group 2 vacancies include two main categories:
- Group 2 (Interview Posts): These positions require candidates to go through a preliminary exam, a mains exam, and an interview.
- Group 2A (Non-Interview Posts): These positions only require candidates to take a written test
The TNPSC Group 2 Exam 2024 has a total of 2327 vacancies which includes 507 vacancies for Group 2 (Interview Posts) and 1820 vacancies for Group 2A (Non-Interview Posts).

TNPSC Group 2 Recruitment 2025
The TNPSC Group 2 recruitment 2025 will take around one year to complete. The recruitment process starts with the applications and end with the appointment of the candidate. TNPSC Group 2 recruitment is done for two types of posts.

TNPSC Group 2 Result
After the exam of each stage, the TNPSC Group 2 result is declared by the commission. The candidate needs to qualify each stage to become eligible to appear in the next stage.

TNPSC Group 2 cut off is arrived at for each post and each category. The candidate needs to breach the TNPSC Group 2 cut off of every stage to get selected in that stage.

TNPSC Group 2 Eligibility
TNPSC Group 2 Eligibility conditions are defined in the notification. The TNPSC Group 2 recruitment notification mentions the educational and age criteria for all the post separately. The TNPSC Group 2 recruitment notification defines the essential and preferential qualifications. The education criteria for the Group 2 and Group 2A post is defined separately for each of the posts. For most of the posts, the educational requirement is a Graduate degree from a recognised university.
TNPSC Group 2 Age Limit
The TNPSC Group 2 Age limit is defined for all the posts notified in the TNPSC Group 2 recruitment notification. For the post except the following
- Sub-Registrar Grade-II

The lower age limit is 18 years
The upper age limit is 30 years.

Age relaxation is provided to the candidates belonging to the reserve categories. There is no upper age limit for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste Category.
Note: There is no maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ SC (Arunthathiyars), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Most Backward Class (MBC)/ Denotified Community (DC), Backward Class (BC), Backward Classes (Muslims) and destitute widows of all categories. The maximum age limit means that candidates should not have completed 58 years of age on the date of notification or at the time of selection to a particular post.
The official website informs, “Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC (A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM) and BCM who have put in five years and more of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.”
