LPU PhD Admission 2021: Eligibility, Application Process, Dates, Fee

Lovely Professional University offers PhD in more than 50 specialisations in part-time as well as in full-time modes. LPU PhD admission process begins in the first week of February (for schedule I) for both full-time and part-time PhD programmes. However, this year, the admission process is delayed because of the pandemic. It also offers PhD in online and offline modes.

LPU PhD Admission 2021

At the doctoral level, LPU offers a full-time and part-time PhD programme in 53 and 45 specialisations, respectively. The minimum duration to complete this degree is three years. Below mentioned are the eligibility and selection criteria along with the name of specialisations:

• Eligibility criteria: Master’s degree with 55% aggregate in a relevant discipline or equivalent
• Selection criteria: A valid score in LPUNEST followed by an interview
• Exemption from LPUNEST: Those who have qualified UGC NET/ JRF/ CSIR NET/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) exam/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE or GPAT scorecard/ ICAR (NET), SPM, Teacher Fellowship holder, or passed MPhil (regular mode only) are exempted from LPUNEST for PhD

Note:

• The exemption is for LPUNEST (PhD) exam only but the candidates must fill the LPUNEST (PhD) form and appear for the interview
• GATE/ GPAT score should be valid during admission
• 100% selection weightage is given to interview only

LPU PhD Application Process 2021

LPU PhD admission to all the above-mentioned specialisations is done through an online mode. Candidates, fulfilling the eligibility criteria, need to apply online through the admission portal of the University. The common LPU application process is shown below:

Step 1: Signup

• Register on the official admission portal of LPU i.e. LPUADMIT (admission.lpu.in) with basic details such as name, email id, mobile number, state, gender and password). The email id used during registration will act as the username for the portal and password needs to be set by the candidate while registration.
• Login to the LPUADMIT with an already created username/ password

Step 2: Application for admission

Candidates can continue to take admission and then apply for LPUNEST (for scholarship purpose):

• Fill in the application form
• Select the programme from the available course list
• Make an initial payment of Rs 10,000 (which consists of an application fee of Rs 500, rest is part of the programme fee of the first semester). After making the payment, the University will dispatch the prospectus at the correspondence address (entered in the application form) and a unique provisional registration no. will be generated and sent to the registered email id.
• Upload the required documents. All the submitted documents are verified from the originals within the prescribed timelines during admission.
• Deposit the balance fee within the timelines as prescribed by LPU

Step 3: Apply for LPUNEST

Lovely Professional University conducts an online eligibility/scholarship test, LPUNEST basis which students can avail a number of scholarships.

• Deposit the test fee: The cost for the application form and soft copy of LPUNEST Kit is Rs 800 (for boys) and Rs 500 (for girls) and fill the application form of LPUNEST.

Step 4: Book the exam slot and appear for it

• Candidates are now required to book a slot (with their preference of date and time) to appear for LPUNEST
• Appear and qualify the test

List of documents to be uploaded with the application form

• Recent photograph
• Mark sheet and passing certificates of Class 10, Class 12 and graduation
• Qualifying exam certificate/ mark sheet
• Address proof

Also, students are advised to carry the following documents (both the original and the copy) at the time of reporting at the University campus for admission:

• Certificate and marksheet of Class 10 and Class 12
• Character/ school leaving/ transfer document
• Entrance test rank/ score card (if applicable)
• Three passport-size photographs of the student
• Proof of residence
• Aadhaar Card of the students and their parents
• A self-attested anti-ragging affidavit signed by both the students and their parents
• Income Affidavit

LPU PhD Scholarships 2021

The University offers a number of scholarships on the basis of performance in LPUNEST (PhD). The categories for the scholarship are based on candidates' performance in LPUNEST (PhD) with a maximum scholarship of Rs 60,000 per annum to the toppers. Cut-off details for each category are announced with the result declaration of the respective schedule. The details regarding LPU scholarships are as per the following table:

• Apart from the above-mentioned scholarship, the University also offers a scholarship of up to 90% of the programme fee based on GATE/ GPAT/ SPM/ JRF/ NET (LS)/ affiliations and/ or research outcomes.
• In addition to the above-mentioned ones, scholarship of up to 70% of programme fee is also offered to research associates in centrally funded labs, professionals working in Industry/ Corporate/ Teaching and candidates with various research achievements.
• Additionally, there are scholarships for Person with Certain Disability, fee concession for Defence, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel and their dependents, and certain scholarships available for students on the basis of their performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service and Bravery Awards.
