The NIMCET exam will be of 2 hours duration. The paper is divided into three parts, each allotted a specific time, which must be followed by the candidates.

  • Part 1: Math (70 minutes)
  • Part 2: Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (30 minutes)
  • Part 3: Computer Awareness & General English (20 minutes)

In case more than one answer is selected for a question, it will be negatively marked.

NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern - Important Points

  • The authorities will conduct the NIMCET 2026 exam online, i.e., as a computer-based test.
  • For every question, four options will be given. The correct option has to be selected and submitted.
  • All sections should be completed within the allotted time.
  • Candidates can use the test booklet for rough work and calculations. No other paper will be allowed for rough work.
  • Since there is a negative marking, candidates are advised not to attempt questions about which they are unsure. 
  • Providing multiple answers to a single question will result in negative marking.

The eligibility criteria for NIMCET are as follows -

Must be an Indian citizen

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), BCA, B.Tech/B.E., or any equivalent degree with Mathematics/Statistics as a subject at 10+2 or graduation level

Minimum Marks

At least 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA  (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD candidates)

The NIMCET is conducted by an individual NIT on a rotational basis every year. So the NIT that is conducting the NIMCET in that year will release the NIMCET answer key. In 2025, the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli conducted the NIMCET and hence, released the answer key.
