FTII

The Film and Television Institute of India is one of the most renowned institutes in terms of mass communication. When it comes to Film Making, there are various roles and responsibilities such as a video editor, sound recording engineer, sound producer, graphics and animation designer and much more. There are various courses which are offered at FTII as they have two wings in the institute – The Film Wing and Television Wing. FTII offers students admission in postgraduate diploma courses which are as follows:

Admission Process: For admission at FTII, students will have to firstly apply online and appear for a Joint Entrance Test (JET) which is conducted by the FTII and SRFTI together in order to offer students admission in the postgraduate diploma courses which are offered at the institutes. Candidates who clear the Joint Entrance Test, will be called at the respective campuses for an interview. A merit list will be released where students who have qualified, will be called to the institute to complete the admission process.

SRFTI

An academic institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Satyajit Ray Fim and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata offers students admission in various specialisations under the film and television wings. Students can opt to take up courses in cinematography to writing for electronic and digital media. The following courses are offered at SRFTI.

Candidates can go through the two programmes which are offered at SRFTI.

Admission Process: Admission into SRFTI is as such that candidates need to apply online and will have to appear for a Joint Entrance Test (JET). The JET is conducted by the FTII and SRFTI together in order to offer students admission. Candidates who have applied for admission in SRFTI, once cleared, they will be called to the institute of an interview. Based on the collected marks of the JET and interview, candidates will be called to complete the admission process.

Jadavpur University

Jadavpur University, Kolkata has a department in Film Studies and interested candidates can opt to take up a regular Master of Arts in Film Studies. Candidates who wish to take their education to a higher level, Jadavpur University offers students a PhD in Arts (Film Studies). The Department of Film Studies at JU teaches students the aesthetic aspects of film and culture in today’s society. About the course

Admission Process: Candidates will have to apply online and appear for an entrance exam which is conducted by the university. Candidates who qualify, will be called to the university campus to appear for either a group discussion or an interview. A merit list will be released which will have the candidate’s names who have qualified and will be called to complete the admission process.

FX School

About the course: FX School offers students an 11-month advanced certificate course which comprises of four modules and a professional certificate course comprising a 3-month professional film project module where students are offered a chance to work with the latest equipment and work with professionals to create a short film.

Admission Process: Candidates will have to register and apply online on the official website of SGT University. Once registered, the candidate can apply for the course interested in. The candidate will have to appear for an entrance exam which is conducted by the university. Candidates who clear by securing a rank, will be called to the university to complete the admission formalities.
