The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has announced a strategic partnership with the National Defence College (NDC) to launch a new Executive MBA Programme in ‘Strategic Leadership and Public Policy.’ The one-year programme, spanning 48 weeks, will offer a combination of lecture-based courses, practical modules, and a thesis.
Exclusive Enrollment for Senior Officials
The programme is designed for 120 participants, including senior members of the Indian Armed Forces, Indian Civil Services, Indian Police Services, and other government bodies. It will also accommodate officers from friendly foreign countries. The selection process for participants will be rigorous, ensuring that the programme is tailored for high-level professionals.
Faculty and Curriculum
The course will be taught by a distinguished group of faculty members from IIT Madras’s Department of Management Studies and Aerospace, as well as experts from NDC and other specialized fields. The instruction will take place at the National Defence College, combining academic rigor with practical application.
Eligibility criteria include Brigadier or equivalent ranks for Service Officers and Director/Joint Secretary levels for Civil and Diplomatic service officers. The programme is aimed at enhancing the strategic and leadership capabilities of senior officials, preparing them for higher leadership roles in both military and civilian sectors.
Formal Agreement and Future Outlook
An MoU for this programme was signed by Professor M. Thenmozhi, Head of the Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras, and Brigadier Rajesh Raman, Secretary of NDC, in the presence of Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
Professor V Kamakoti emphasized the importance of the programme, stating, “The next-gen world needs managers with a deep understanding of contemporary technologies. This MBA programme is conceived to address this need.”
